For those of you with staff how much do you pay them per day?

Is it best to pay by the hour or by the day?

i would say by the day.
a days rate of x amount, and you tell him how many and which houses to do each day.

£50 per day and for that I would want him to earn me £120 minimum per day, if he is inexperienced then £80-£90
Reaching parts traditional window cleaners can not reach.

I think the two best options are:

1. A basic wage per hour plus bonus related pay.
2. A certain % of work completed.

Depends what they are doing too?? 12 hours of commercial, or 8 hours on domestic, do they know what they are doing and are fast ?

But i would try think of it as pay as much as you can afford, rather than as little as you can get away with, if you re gonna take on staff, theres no bigger investment in your company , so you may as well look after them  , if they dont work, the business fails or stagnates at least

£50 a day for someone without work is very good!

Theres people like us who will go out there and do our own work, by our own things, have all the stress of sorting things out, then theres people who just want to go work do whatever no stress and £50 at end of day thank you very much.

Hardly treating them like s*** as you so nicely put it.

To be honest, they will get fed up earning £50 per day, they will soon leave and get all the knowledge to start on their own making £150 plus a day.

Thats the problem here - paying little enough to make you money and enough to keep them happy / interested.

i think i would go with minimum wage + bonuses (X% of the weekly net profits, or set amount for meeting various targets).
that way when they are working they can be rewarded, but come holiday time or bad weather you have a lower commitment

It always ends up with staff thinking like this to the word in fact,i don`t know what it is about this job but it seems to be the only 1 where they can`t seperate the workers from the boss.Don`t ask me why i`ve had about 3-4 like this.

This 2009 mate.

£50 is nothing these days if thats what you're earning (when I say nothing, I mean pittance)

I earnt that 15 years ago landscaping (for someone else on the cards, and landscaping is notoriously badly paid) and 12 years ago window cleaning for someone else, whats happened to wage increases in that case mate in the last 12 years?

£50 over 36 hours is about £7 a hour no were near min wage?
   ???  ???

has you seem to be struggling ill explain £7 per hour over 36 hours is £252 which is almost £50 a day...now this is no where near min wage.........i can do in braile if you like
