Lightweight Backup Porty
« on: July 01, 2009, 05:07:19 pm »
Hi, I currently run a Powr-Flite Perfectheat, which is a great machine - very happy with it.  But it is too large and heavy to take upstairs when cleaning flats (with no lift), nursing homes, small hotels etc.
I would like to source a smaller light-weight machine that can be used in these situations and also as a backup machine.  I have been considering the Prochem Galaxy, but wonder if the tank capacity maybe a bit on the small side.  I have also started looking at the Ashby Sensei machine, which seems to fit the bill and also has a heater option (handy when there is no hot water!).
I would be interested to hear comments on the Sensei and any advice regarding alternative machines I should consider.
Thanks in advance - Pete

Always use my Powermax when doing flats as its light as a feather and easy to bounce up and down stairs had mine for nearly 5 years now and its still going strong.

Prochem

Do Powerflite not make a compact machine - thought I saw one at a show 12 months ago or so.

They do do a smaller version but its still not as lightweight as what Pete will be looking for.

Ninja with built in tank heater and in-line heater; a little over 11 stone-70kg?

I don't have a problem humping that up staircases (keeps me fit, weight down blah, blah) or do you lot think I'm a posing weight-lifter (talking out of my hose?) ;).........Results fantastic

(Have to say I prefer not to do so and if I can use extension hoses I will.)

If you cant handle a 38kg machine i think carpet cleaning is the wrong job for you try lifting a Hydramaster Raptor up 4 flights of stairs now thats what i would call heavy.

The Sensei only comes with one vac as standard you would then have to add a vac booster thats another thing to carry but it does look ok how much are they couldnt see a price.

Powrflite do small (er) box style cleaners, they used to be a regular on the amtech auctions about 12 months ago, not sure if they still stock any now.

To see the full range follow link:          http://     www.powrflite.com/istore/boxextract.asp?dept=10051

Probably not yhe most popular machines on here but have you considered the craftex machines the grace and sabrina maxi. both split into 2 sections for ease of carrying.

The sabrina is the smaller aound 30l clean water but perfectly adequate to undertake any domestic job. I know of one carpet cleaner who uses this above his bigger machine simply because of its ease of use. As i understand they have know fitted it with a large 3 stage vac and although single vac the power is pretty good.

The last time i checked they were under £1000 to buy.
The only down side is that they require a heat and run as there is no built in heater option, but then again in most of the enviroments you have described hot water will probably be available.

Darren

Why would you need a vac booster for the Sensei ?

There are many machines which give excellent results on a single 2 stage vac including CFR's
