Matt, is this old forum news then? I havent been on in ages!

i havent seen it discussed to be honest, though brodex do seem out of favour with alot at the mo, this forum has its fav's and currently brodex are not on that list

BUT why on earth some1 would spend £562.00 on a pole that is modular, when you can buy a fishing pole at the same height for 100 quid ? ? ? ?

Can anyone who uses a modular pole recommend it? I have never seen a window cleaner using anything other than a telescopic.

no not as strong i am sure, BUT my fishing pole is allmost 2 years old now

the fishing pole comes in alot cheaper, we are talking 5 fishing poles to the brodex pole, we have people on here who have purchased a modular from a suppier and its last under 2 years ( with wear on the joints ), so take into consideration the price and the amount of poles you can buy , then work out which will last you longer for the same money spent, i know the answer

Wear on the joints is usually dependant on how clean the joints are kept and whether they are regularly treated. I am using a 3 year old modular and there is virtually no wear on the joints.

I had my first break on my SL2 the other day, at the tip of the thinner part of no2 section, happened in transport in the van. I repaired it using epoxy resin. coated the damaged area, getting it right into the layers and broken fibres and let it dry then sanded it all down, job done!

Is the Brodex pole the same as the SL2 though? Different label, but from the same factory?

They are the same concept, but from different factories. Heads would roll if they were from the same factory  ;D

SL2 and similar type modular poles are fantastic to use if you are going through a really bad spell of tennis-golfers elbow,i used mine for about 3 months while trying to let my elbow heal and it did the trick. For out and out speed you`ll never going to beat a telescopic pole and providing it is light enough i will always use a telescopic,1 pole is so so quick for tops and bottoms.

Glad to hear it Alex,.. a copy is never as good as the original.

I'm just wondering if the Brodex pole is a real contender, or just another Emporium pole. Time will tell,...

As you say, time will tell as to the quality but from the offset the package is nowhere near as usable or complete.  I would say it's more of a contender than the Emporium ever was though it is a bit more expensive.
