Hi could anyone recommend a battery powered agitation machine with a pad of around 6-10 inches, under £500? thanks

Don't think so, not of the spec you are after.

Why battery powered?  Get a minitex with a mains lead, very versatile.

I've got a couple black and decker cordless scumbusters(mine are the rotary types) which work well for upholstery and stairs, But I had to get them abroad, one from germany and the other from italy as I don't think they are available in the U.K.? I've been using them for a couple of years and they are still going strong.
