Dearest Jeff, I have long been an admirer of your superior knowledge of all things electrical on this forum and I have a leccy type question.

How can I improve the connection on the top of a 9v battery? I have one of those push fit caps on my battery to power my camera for my vac (the little 9v batteries with the twin top). The problems I have are that the spindly soldered wires to the connector have a habit of breaking. Is there an alternative method?

get a battery holder and fix a SHORTER length of wire to the holder and then to a fixed point, thus no more stress on the wires you have

The wires are really piddly probably less than a mill thick. It's one of those connections you get on a smoke alarm battery if you know what I mean.

get a battery holder ( do a google search )

fix STRONG wire to holder and to a fix point ( your camera )

make sure the STRONGER wire is shorter than the " piddly probably less than a mill thick wire "

no more problems

Although soldering the jack on is extremely fiddly with my bat like eyesight and parkinson type hands  :

you need something like this, then you can fix it to your camera ( or fix a loop of wore to attach it to )

Replace the clip for the 9v battery box with a switch incorporated so during the day you can just switch on/off and at the end of the day you only have to remove your battery once, the box can be taped to your pole if you have to, or use Velcro like I did.

they are the same thing, apart from Jeff's has a switch ( which i guess saves you from removing the battery when you are done )
