John,

You do not need to pay anyone. Save yourself money.

Go to www.fasthosts.co.uk and purchase a package, and a domain name.

They all have wizzards so you do not need anycoding experience. You just type what you want. You can upload pictures etc.

They even have contact forms as well that you can add to your website.

I would recomend at least a 10 page site. You do not need to use all 10 pages. You can also upgrade later at anytime.

They also seem to rank on Google ok as a server.

If you would like further info let me know.

I also have experience in computers, IT, Web design and programming also I am MCSE Qualified.

Its not the building of the website that is the problem. As some have said, their are many templates you can build your own site from easily and cheaply.
Its getting it seen by others that is the problem. No point having the nicest website ever if no one finds it.
They just dont get to first page of google on their own accord.
Getting it their is what will cost you. Search engine optimisation is a skill that you will pay for, and you can pay a lot or you can pay a reasonable amount.

Hi Joe,

I agree with you here on most of it.

The bit I do not agree with is "It will cost you" to get your site noticed. As I previously stated I was a web designer and IT expert and believe me you do not need to be an expert to get to the first page of Google and at the top.

Our sites are at the top in our area. We have more than one site like many companies do. Key words and content is the way forward. No need to pay for advertising. Get the algorithm correct and you are their!

www.ltcd.co.uk
A DISMAL example of web design.
No point having it looking good if no one will ever find it. There's no google optimisation, keywords, H tags,.. NOTHING!!!
Onsite optimisation isn't the be all and end all,.. but it can't be ignored!

I've done a few websites for friends. My own website is www.avondhucleaning.com and it ranks very well in Google in my areas. Others are:
http://www.mpmaintenance.ie/ (my newest one, still under construction)
http://www.mgwc.org
http://www.frankthewindowcleaner.com
http://www.gacontracts.co.uk
http://www.bluewindowcleaning.com
http://www.nolanscleaning.co.uk (not my favourite, but I didn't choose the wording or pictures!)
http://www.theperfectlawncompany.com
http://www.dorset-window-cleaning.co.uk
http://www.johnthewindowcleaner.com
http://www.majesticwindowcleaning.co.uk
http://www.fleetwoodwindowcleaning.co.uk

Its simple really to do it yourself. You need to know a bit about Google optimisation, keywords etc, and have a basic knowledge of dreamweaver, but if you start with a template from www.templatemonster.com half the work is done for you.

Depends on the template. Normally around £300 - £350 including all costs.
To be honest though, its only something to keep me entertained on rainy days and I mostly do it just for friends. I'd be glad to give you a few tips and help you get one done yourself.
