FACTORY FLOOR
« on: June 15, 2009, 05:22:50 pm »
We clean every week a floor in an engineering factory.
Floor was laid approx 5 years ago  with epoxy coated finish.
In time it has become chipped and customer now asks for it to be repainted.
Unable to find out exact make.
Environment is oil spillage foot passenger and forklift use.
Anyone previously washed and painted similar, need to know type of paint to use.
Thanks in advanve

Heres a link or 2, 2nd one is best!

http://www.decoratingdirect.co.uk/Coatings/Floor_Paint_Coatings/?utm_id=G146&gclid=COf7977ujJsCFaAA4wodu0-FoQ

Heres one we use
http://www.watco.co.uk/asp/autopage.asp?stkGroup=EGCSF

Its expensive stuff.

Also your gonna need to do an inspection of the floor an if there is oil grease then you will need to remove it first! Damaged floor cracks etc will need to be filled. Dont use the floor paint as FILLER!!!!!

Also you will need to make sure the staff keep off until so many hours have passed by.

Hope this is of help

I have done plenty of these when I worked at a factory. You need to throughly degrease the floor and with epoxy its always best to abrade the floor with a rotary. Take your time with the prep and make sure you throughly mix the paint, buy a good 12" roller - with the frame both sides. Read the instructions on the tin ie working times, drying times/ temp.
