Did not no you could get it in early.

Might get it out of the way now so I can see how much I still need to put away.

Does anyone know if you can pay in advance if you have a rough idea what will be owing?

You can do your tax return any time after the year end and before the cut off date. It is BY such a date, not ON that date.
Paying in advance? Yes you can and I believe you will receive interest on it aswell, but why not put it away in a separate savings account yourself and earn interest there
