Excellent rug course, brain still recovering
« on: May 30, 2009, 09:41:52 pm »
Finished the 3 day rug course yesterday and am totally chuffed.

Learnt loads about distinguishing different rugs and knowing exactly when you should be charging good money for cleaning them. The cleaning was amazing and even got to see a little bit of repair work.

Highly recommended to anyone looking to seriously clean rugs. Ellen the tutor is third gen Armenian and rugs and their cleaning has been in the family for years and she knows here stuff as did Aaron from Masterblend.

Cheers Guys really enjoyed it, see you at the next one.

Cheers Goron

Hi Goran,

I understand the rugs were cleaned in the same way as Dave L does them, i.e saturation.

Was this the case ?

Cheers

Goron, if you had to pick one thing you learned throughout the full course which you consider will help you earn more money from rug cleaning what would it be?

I suspect the difference between Dave's process and theirs is what you do BEFORE you put a hose on it.

No Clinton I'm thinking of a formal precedure to test for ridiculously loose dyes and painted rugs rather than 20 years experience.

Two words Clinton - Swan Vesta

Yeah similar ie full saturation but not exactly the same, horses for courses i guess.

The one thing that i would say i have taken away with me to allow to make more money is the ability to recognise top end rugs and having a little knowledge to be able to talk about them and show knowledge!

No prices suggested they left that to you. I know Ellen's operation is a relatively cheap service but runs on sheer bulk. If you can get it charge it! all comes back to knowing what you are looking at!

They're not as delicate as you think they are!  Don't be a pansy, get some water on it :)
