does the plastic bottle have a pipe leading out of it into the machine? if so yes but you need to know so much more about iteg;  priming, air blocks, setting the dilution.

the Hg are measured on a dial on the front of the machine, usually it goes from 0-25 it will have:  in.Hg & Mbar on it

you need a face to face talk with someone who knows about about T/Ms

is there any carpet cleaners  near you who use a T/M? I'd ring around or send out some emails asking for a meeting.

the questions you are asking are so basic that you are going to come a cropper or you might even damage your machine.

I think mine have looked like that a few yeras ago, the guy had mine before used to polish it like it was the Queens roller (without anybody in the back).

Mind you, he was the operator so had slow days when there wasnt much to do, now its got an owner/operator working it so it has to work and not look pretty.

I like them tho, its a good basic machine, I can fix it when it goes wrong usually, what do they do when a Thermal Wave goes down?

Call a BMW mechanic with a computer to diagnose the problem probably.
