Anyone get away with them all year round?

I have some new Unger ones but they seem to smear badly. I can only think they are too soft for this time of year?
What's the best?

on a serious note, I use pulex soft rubbers and I use then all year round.
I just find I have to change then more often in the summer though.

Use hard in the summer, glide better. Soft in winter mate. (Unger by the way)

I have only ever used soft unger never had a problem. I do change them when they start to streak.

I used to change my rubber every day and swap it round at mid day.

Never had an issue with smears.. Hardly ever trad now, except for interiors..

SYR Soft all year round. Never used hard so can't comment, but it doesn't leave smears.

If a soft rubber leaves smears, it's not a good rubber to begin with, or badly cut.

Unger is quite bad. Ettore and SYR are the best, Ettore is better then SYR but doesn't last as long. Through testing I've found those two the best.

ive been using the red wagtail rubber for over 4 months now and it still dont need changing , before using this i was using unger soft which didnt last long , ive tryed pulex , syr and ettorre i will now stick with the wagtail rubber .

The pressure makes a big difference too dave. A soft rubber requires less pressure to work effectively, press on harder & it will smear. However, a new piece (any kind) of rubber also requires less pressure to begin with & you will gradually have to increase it with wear.

Also the angle of attack can make a difference. Etorre rubber is superb.

Makes sense. I do so little trad work that i'm still a newbie really. I was cleaning my conservatory yesterday in the sun, buggered if I could get it perfect.

a mate was watching us do a car showroom , and asked what rubbers we use

so i gave him some pulex soft, when he tried it

he said it was to fast for him,  : 

reckoned he prefered the drag of the unger
