How does site cleaning work?
« on: May 18, 2009, 11:00:01 am »
I appreciate that there isnt a big demand for site cleans at the moment, but I am interested to know how they opperate?

I guess you would price per property rather than per hour,, but you would have you price worked out to get an hourly rate?  How much do site cleaner employees tend to earn?  £6.50 an hour?

So for example If I ran a site cleaning business and went to clean properties that took 8 hours (a full day) with 2 employees  what would you roughly need to take in?

I don't think im explaining myself well here,, but i'll wait to see what kind of a response I get.

Cheers!!

Also how do you get jobs?  just by contacting house builders and making them aware of your services?

I would say he is definatley refering to builders cleans.

And yes you call the building company. You get put on there list.

You also have to send over risk assesments, insurance and any special relevent other information.

Generally its priced per job. But many now are going for an hourly rate.

hi there

99% of builders cleans will be tendered works, ie build clean, reclean and sparkle clean, per plot pricing.

you will have to price all the work from a set of drawings at the outset, they are then awarded by the quantity surveyor.

you will need to file all your method statements, risk assessments, coshh data and risk assessments, cscs cards etc.

site managers call of the work as and when required, a lot of plots are build cleaned on a friday, and then recleaned the following friday, wth sparklecleans beign completed the day before the client moves in.

a lot of sparkles done at the end of the month. rushes at quarter ends and the end of june and dec.

i would expect that when the sitesstart back up in time, then there will most likely be even more emphasis on the end of june and december build cycles.

also remeber that the work is cis deductable.

potentially very hard work.

regards

martin
