If you are cleaning a smooth surface, it doesn't matter how powerful your 'hoover' is, so long as there's a bit of suction to carry away the loose debris. Sounds like you need a 'bananna' attachment (Numatic used to do them) and plenty of extention tubes.

Funnily enough we did some beams in some offices that were converted in a barn.

They were covered in dust and cobwebs the boss thought they were unsightly and didnt give a good impression of the company.

Me and assistant went in on a Sat morning, with a ladder a henry and the usual pipes plus a couple of extras we had from another machine.

Use the little brush extension on the end and they come up a treat.

I am not following this: why can you not stand at ground level and attach a suffcient number of extention tubes to the vacuum cleaner to reach the beams?

If you have a Henry or indeed any numatic cleaner, you will know that you can attach the tubes to the hose directly and fit the bent end at the cleaning end. For a lot of jobs this should offer a good reach into the spaces. It does assume that you have the spare extention tubes.

Also the large Dyson dusting brush is superb because the neck of it can be twisted round to make different angles. It is 32mm so will fit the Numatic cleaners. They are a matter of just a couple of £ on eBay.

sorry im soley window cleaning but part of a hotel im quoting for want the beams cleaned, they were absialed has they are five storeys high top to bottom, now there is a open rectangeler balcany were the beams run about 6-10 feet away.

Im after a solution to cleaning these beams with out absailers so if i can just get a henry hoover and buy some extra tubes that sounds great.

Would i be able to get attachements that come back like a ubend? are these tubes heavy has this is parallel?

the wand end of the Numatic vacuum cleaners is bent and you can fit this at the cleaning end. Then add the dusting brush (the Dyson one is very good).

Or you could invest in what was known as a banana overhead brush; don't let it be said i never help anyone  ;) because i've just had to telephone someone to ask this and its now called a " Pelota brush". Google that. You'll  need a 32mm hose size as thats what Henry is.

But buying all these bits is going to add up. Is it worth your while? If they had absailiers in the past then why can they not do that this time?

ita a quarterly job and there are five floors of beams, absialing itcould be done be we dont have sailers so it would keep it in house, buying the equipment ptob up to a couple of hundred quid would be worth it.

With respect, the HEPA kit for a Henry (is such a thing avaliable?) is not going to help with cleaning beams as the HEPA is only to do with the filtration.

vacman hepa kit is available for henry i have one in mine. As for cleaning beams it reduces the amount of dust in the air thus not polluting other areas .

Hi there Jason

The Numatic website made no mention of HEPA filter by name, just that the Henry Micro model had greater filtration.

I agree that greater filtration will reduce the dust in the air and i can see what you are saying now; before it sounded like you were saying it would actually assist in removing the dirt already present.
