problem with spotting
« on: May 13, 2009, 04:45:56 pm »
over the last day i have had a few issues with spots on windows,

they have most been in a line going from top to bottom.
There are milky coloured.

I was wondering what was causing this and how do i go about stopping it?

is it just a matter of me not being careful eough and rinsing the frame enough?

any help is appreciated as i want to learn from my mistakes a.s.a.p

will more and more rinsing do it? will that have to be done everytime?

i did notice the large droplets of water sitting on the frame just waiting to fall!!

i know that wood can have issues, but these where on upvc windows, on modern houses.

i think it will be a matter of me slowing down a bit, and making sure to rinse thoroughly.

is it ok to leave water on the frame that will obviously eventually drip down, as long as it is pure water from lots of rinising?!

another thing, the weather here has been warm, very sunny and quite breezy, would that have an effect?

Milltown have a look to see if the frames have been painted (some people actually paint plastic frames, god knows why) but just check.
A friend of mine cleaned a house with windows that are wooden and only had undercoat on them and he had a nightmare with cleaning them with WFP as the under coat was being transfered on to the window.

Milltown do you mean, does it have to be rinsed everytime?

Anyway, it will need to be rinsed and scrubbed for as long as it takes to come up good with just the pole. None of that '3 cleans and they'll come up good' rubbish.
It might take a long time, but once they have come up spot free the 1st time, they will pretty much always come up spot free from then on.
It is worth doing whatever extra it takes to get that 1st clean right. Because it will allow you to fly round with confidence on subsequent cleans.

It could be that the rubber seal between the glass and the frame has a split ot small hole. Rinse loads and it should be ok. Tops frames clean first and rinse them well every time, chase this water down the glass, then clean the glass and side frames. Again rinse well.  :)

If the house was originaly cleaned the traditional way the soap from the fairy can soak into the rubbers and sometimes it can take up to 2-3 cleans before it is all removed, this can cause bad spotting.

Millhouse, i had a problem like this.I didn't believe the customer because it was that long since i've had a complaint.

Anyway, on these frames the vents were let into the rubber chanel at the top, as in two holes. I redid with the same result.I don't know if they would have come good if i had been able to clean the vents because the custy sacked me.

£6 job every eight wks, 1st time i've done it.
