trailer our van mount
« on: May 08, 2009, 09:46:43 am »
you guys in the know are there any advantages to a trailer mounted system as a posed to a van  need to get a thousand ltr system in ....i am thinking off going down the trailer route but is there any big draw backs such as charging batteries for pumps fuel tank for running hot system
to me you do not need to tie up a van you can drop it off say at a scool and use the van else where  also the weight thing say three ton in a van two for system and a half ton for equipment plus staff you are running on your limit all ther time .....do any of you guys use a trailer for this size off system and if so could i have some pictures to see what finished article looks like plus any horror stories from both parties van and trailer
look forward any replies cheers shammy

I have a Ifor Williams box trailer that is used on commercial works, for pressure washing.

It is 14 foot long behind my Movano and I would not want to use the set up on residential window cleaning. It works really well for long stays at one place (our work) but all that trying to park, in and around other traffic, reversing, whatever, would be a nightmare.

I am used to driving and reversing with it on the back and can park it quite well. If you go down this route good luck!

Rob ;D

1000 litres in a trailer is VERY heavy, like a big car , so unless you are a very good trailer maneuver-rer :)

Dont think about it, i had a 650 litre system and it was a nightmare for me, also think about how much room you are gonna need to park anywhere near a job on residential, van for me all the way with that size system, also your license may have restriction on towing anything over 750 kgs

In Ireland there is a 750kg weight  limit for anything towed behind a vehicle with a dry weight below 3.5 tonnes. I'm sure the same/similar rule applies in the UK.

I have a trailer for powerwashing,.. its as small as it could possibly be built, and I still think its a disaster when it comes to residential work for parking, turning etc.

I'd say vanmount 100%,.. trailers are nearly always more hassle than they are worth.
