Pencil jet or fan jet
« on: May 06, 2009, 10:50:57 pm »
Thinking of getting a fan jet brush head
Q 1) are they worth getting as any one used one
Q 2) Does any one use both types of brush head
Q 3) not useing one before what advantage has the fan jet over the pencil jet
Q 4) any advice welcome

I put down pencil jet only because I have only used pencil. What puts me off the fan jet is that the spray comes out over the brush rather than through the bristles. I think this might be a problem when you are cleaning the top of the window frame and the fan is spraying onto the bricks above window. Then you might have the problem of dirty water running down onto the glass.

Some-one correct me if Im wrong!

its horses for courses , pencils work well if there are a lot of vents if there is no vents fan jets, i use pencils jets for domestic as i get better control and don't hit the vents, then i have fan jets in my shop front brush fan jets are good for those huge shop windows. some people use fan jets on residential work but not for me though

i recently changed over to pencil jets, reason for this is becouse you can control them better over vents, without splashing up into them,

I rinse on the glass so dont find the splashing any problem, but after using both I find pencil jets are better because they give a better cascade of water.

Fan jets seem to be better on facias and gutters though.

 Hi ccmids
There is a big favour for pencil jet
do you think the fan jet drys quicker, and does it save water.
do you use the pencil jet at all if so how often do you have to change brush heads
or do you use two poles
thanks

i use both but slightly prefer pencils, fan jets are good when you turn the pump way up and as for over spray with them you wont get that if you rinse against the glass. i find pencils will splash up to the top just as easy when lifted off the glass although others will dissagree. there was a video on here a while back showing the difference of the two in action

Used both - prefer fan - on the rare occasions I need more accuracy I turn the flow low and a weak pencil jet emerges.

No - I have a tap on my belt which lets me turn the pressure down so that the fan jet turns into a very low pressure pencil jet and I can use it when necessary.

Pencil, you can't accurately rinse with a fan jet, so no go for me. Pencil jets I find are the most versatile.
