What training have you got?
« on: April 28, 2009, 09:28:41 pm »
What training have you got to clean carpets.

Ive done Prochem, IICRC, NCCA (twice).

Reason for asking is I reckon a big majority of cleaners out there and on here have no training at all or just what they got in 30mins when they got their machine.  I met a guy recently who has been cleaning for nearly a year with no training at all.  Now I know carpet cleaning isnt rocket science but when it goes wrong it can be costly.  Training IMO provides knowledge to offer a safer and better quality of service.

Just the prochem course and Alltec, and woolsafe and LTT
Id rather spend my training budget on Marketing courses, get more return.

I'm sure my insurance asked for some evidence of training when I first applied.

I've done prochems and a day with derek bolton at cleansmart on carpets and one on upholstery.  Thinking I might do the ncca as well but was put off when I heard that one of the suppliers appeared to have taken over for a chunk of the day.

far as i know, NCCA is totally non biased. and don't actually have a supplier, allthough they do hint at altec occasionally.
i did the ncca 2 day and loved it. and the prochem. and cleansmart, and iicrc and 4 day LTT. still no f**k all about carpet cleaning ;D
only joking, i know a bit.

NCCA, Altec's 'hands on carpet cleaning' and IICRC.

All very good and I still use the training manuals for reference regularly.

After attending I have to say that I wonder how anyone can clean carpets properly without some form of training.

Wouldn't it be more fun to guess what training individuals on here have had based on their posts.

14 years with NatWest learning how (not) to run a business. (That can be taken in a couple of ways :))

Training is more than just knowing how to pull a wand around.

But since you ask: NCCA(3 courses), Prochem (3 courses on different aspects), IICRC (basic fitting course), Dri Eaze, LTT (2 day), CCDO twice.

And finally, about 3 years of picking the finest brains in the business - in other words- you lot :-*

Ryan, I served my time as a brickie, don't you think you'd have made more money setting up a business within the building industry?

I always thought of starting up abusiness doing home converstions for the elderley and disabled, ( a growing market)

I attended a 3 day 'Business Start-up' course - free from Business Link and highly recommended.
2 x free Tax Seminars run by HMRC (check on their web-site)
2 day NCCA
2 day Carpet Cleaning school with Paul Pearce at 'The Big Clean' at Epsom
1 day Woolsafe course run by Chemspec
1 day Rug Cleaning with Paul Pearce (free from Alltec)
Dry Fusion training and then on the job training with Bob Jennings (cleaning 100 SqMetres)
4 day Leather training at LTT
Will be booking on a Spot and Stain course soon
You can never have too much training in my opinion.

Thats the 2nd time I have heard that comment - perhaps something NCCA needs to look into.
