I just got me carbon fibre fidhing rod through today and adapted it for wfp. As I was lifting it up with the brush on the end the 4th section just snapped. I have now got to try and get a replacment section from the company I bought it from. Now this pole is 14.5 m and is advertised to handle large fish so with a light weight bentley brush on the end there should be no problem.
Has anybody else had problems like this? It cost me 175.00 and am now gutted

Steve sorry to hear your trouble with pole,don t know why this happened bot hope shop will replace though if you tell them how you were using it they might not. To get you out of trouble till you re sorted you can cut th bit out that snapped and telescope it through the other end, i have nt explained that very well but i think you ll know what i mean, then just tape over the join and it will be o k. cheers mick

if it was at height, allways add sections on whilst pushing it up the wall ( if you get what i mean )

is it fixable ? ? ? ? make the cut cleaner and slide the thinner but inside the thicker bit, you will see how much join you have, slide it back out, whack some super glue on it and slide it back inside and it will be strong, my Zensorflex has been repaired like this twice now, yes you lose 9 " of pole, but it still works fine

failing that, buy a cheaper pole ( like the RT zensorflex ) and hope that the scetions marry up and you will be sorted

Hi Matt, yes I did pick the pole up from the ground extended fully out. I would have thought that it would have been fine as its just like catching fish and lifting them out. So are you saying thats why it more than likley snapped?
By the way have you got a link to the zensorflex?

I would never tell em what I'm using it for. When I spoke to them before it happened they were going on about all these attachments for it and I had no idea what they were talking about coz I dont fish. I never let on what I was going to do with it for obvious reasons.

Its snapped off completley. When I tried to get the section out it came apart so some of it is still in the other section. As an update I did email the company and they said to post the section back and they will replace it. Lets hope they do.
The thing I cant understand is why cant I lift it from the floor? All other poles that are used at height are extended on the floor, use a wall or something to walk it up, no probs. Is carbon fibre not as strong as fibre glass? I thought it was stronger.
Am I the only one that has had a carbon fibre pole snap?
When I get the replacemnet I will do as Matt said and extend it up the wall. What I'm concerned with is it snapping at 45 ft when in use.

when i raise mine up the wall, then use it at the angle req, i have hardly any flex, thus it would have any forces exerted on it to snap

I to thought fish poles should easily cope with a brush 500 grams as a posed to a big bl00dy fish!

then my neighbour told me fish poles have elastics fitted to take strain of fish.

anyone know what these are?

The fishing type poles are useless with standard brushes you need an SL or Bentley brush,just the weight of a vikan will jam the sections.

you can lighten a Vikan enough to use, i have mine down to a bentley weight

i normally put 3 or 4 sections together as its light enuff to avoid any straining issues, then i push up and join the next sections as it gains height, dont fancy lifting 65 feet worth of modular from the ground up, disaster waiting to happen.

yes. the small pole bits you discard when you get it. usually the last 2 of the smallest sections..
