Ah, memories......
« on: April 28, 2009, 07:00:51 pm »
Just done a job today and it's about the 8th time I've cleaned this carpet in I think 9 years.

The thing is it only took me 20 minutes and looked better than the finished product when I did it for the very first time when it took me nearly an hour.

Do you ever get embarrassed to think that you can now do some jobs so much more quickly and better than you used to do in the past?

The thing is you told the customer at the time (all those years ago) that that was the very best you could do.

And you could be genuine about it, because that was truly the case. Progress has been made with machines, chemicals and techniques, but I still feel somewhat embarrassed when I think back to what I thought was a good job done.

I guess 10 years from now I'll be having the same thoughts about what I am achieving these days.

I've had this self same situation many times. I don't feel embarrased, as i have invested
in better machinery as it was developed, to benefit my customers with improved drying times,
and much less disruption. As i'm not in their houses anywhere near as long as i used to be.
This means their lives return to normal much quicker than they ever did before.

At the end of the day a Satisfied Customer is all that counts, They'll come back and so will their friends!!!

If I get the 'Well I'll leave you to it' type I can be in and out in no time compared to when I started. But when I get a talker it can be pushing it for my next job.

I think it has to be the best method of free marketing, but the conversation has to be led rather than listening to medical condition symptoms and the state of the nation moans.
