NEWBIE NEWBIE. 

ok imagine this guys.

I have my trolley la la la with a few empty 25l containers. Only problem is I dont have any pure water
to go in them.

Now bare in mind that im part time so I reckon for 20 houes in a day I will need about 6 containers max.

I will buy an RO UNIT. But thats abotu as clued up as I am.

I have looked around for articles etc but cant fine anything

hi adam , first thing you need to find out is what your tds your tap water is ! if you are in a soft water area , you may get away with only a di unit . am sure there are more experienced people on here who will give you a more detailed answer to your question , but like i say check ur water first , before buying anything .  regards dale

Im actually in the oxford area which im quite sure is a high tds.

I will be buying a reader though. Im also unsure on how to gauge the pso of the tap?

just pour water into a glass/cup . and insert the meter and it will show your tds of you water. am sure when others read your topic , then you will get more advice

A diverter kit costs less than a tenner.

Your rainwater directly off the roof is probably not more than 006 ppm TDS.

That's probably good enough for washing windows.

If you really want to, you can always put it through a DI unit to get it down to 000.

20 houses in a day ..are they all in the same street ? all next door ? ive been cleaning with water fed poels since 2003 ive had tucker 700 ltr systems ive had my own systems different types of poles the lot and i can tell you now no matter how hard you try 20 houses part time ..................not in this life time.... you may do 15 at a push without travelling and also 6 x 25 ltr = 150 ltr .........nope try 400 ltr min then you may get 20 done..properlly

Hi how would you do that? wouldnt the water collected need to go through the DI at pressure??

Hi Adam,

Im a newbie myself (cleanig for 3 weeks now).

Im using on average 25L per houseat the moment (varies between terraces and 5 beds)


This is what your going to need

A decent RO - min 300 - 450 GPD (4040 if money allows) - im running a 75GPD and water production is taking over my life.... get a bigger one than me trust me its worth the hassle.

Possibly a pump depending on your water pressure for the RO to produce.

TDS meter

Get a couple of 220L water butts - best to have more pure than not enough. Connect the taps up with hosepipe and have another tap at the end to fill your 25L containers. You can get water Butts from wilkinsons for about £20. You need to get them higher than your 25L containers, so some kind of board for them to sit on. Seal up the taps before you fill them as they leak if you dont.

I've got 7 25L containers.... get 10..... best to have more than not enough... I got 5 off ebay for £20 from a local company... do a search for 'nearest first'

Check your TDS DAILY... twice a day or more. I have had to dump water and rush round finding somewhere i could buy water from.

Take advise off these guys.... they know what there talking about

I think you are under estimating the amount of water you will need.

Until you get used to it you will probably be using about 20 -25ltrs per house i know i was when i first started.

You will be getting through at least 400ltrs a day on 20 houses probably more until you get used to the system
