George or Window Cleaner Pro ?
« on: April 24, 2009, 05:14:02 pm »
Been looking at the window cleaning software.

Window Cleaner Pro is £179 +VAT where as George is only £50

WCP has a good website and shows you alot about the software

George is basic and doesnt say much really.

Which is better and why (if you have sampled both)

If you have only used one can i have your thoughts and opinions on it.

Thanks

JP

Hi JP
I use george ( two years now) but did download the wcp trail.
Got to say that as a sole trader george does everything I need, but might be cos I'm used to it. I ran the two for a week and they are very similar.
The wcp is more upto date and may have or get better updates. Of the two, take your pick.
George is great valve but if you like to use the computer wcp may be more friendly
Not much help, eh?

Both are decent programs but neither are strictly necessary if you can use a spreadsheet and/or database.  In fact, sometimes dedicated software can attempt to impose a stricter work regime in the sense that it can be a fair bit of faffing around if the schedule goes haywire.

Did you do a poll when you chose a girlfriend too ::)
Make up your own mind and go for it, George for £50 is excellent, got more cash? try WCP as it does more (allegedly).
You're gonna get differing opinions as to which one is best, I've got/had George for about 2 1/2 years now and wouldn't be without it, one of the best £50 I've spent, I wouldn't dream of paying £175 + vat as George does all I want.

Have had George about 2,5 years and found that for me (one man band) it does everything I need...it is quick, easy and very simple to use..

I did get and pay for WCP....but I found it to have many issues to such an extent that I got a refund...basically sick and tired of having to email the programmer and suggest this and that...

George is very good for me but WCP has rave reviews from loads of it's users...

Best to get both on trial and abuse them both and see what comes out on top for you.

Cheers
Dave.

p.s the programmer of WCP is very good and very quick at answering any issues you may have...I was sad really that it did not work for me because the truth is that I did like it really..it just did not fit in with me at the time...I had better things to do than corresponding with him  each day.

I am currently using both side by side , I had Geo first for about 2 yrs but i needed more And Wcp provided the extra I need so I now have both , I think if I had to choose all over again I would go for Wcp I see more of a future for this program and there are some very interesting features in the pipeline I believe

Hi Dave,

Just in defence, since October last year I have implemented most of the features that you requested and as always am more than willing to listen to customers to try and improve the software. At present I am not aware of any features that wcp does not have that others do and I am currently working on some updates that I think some of you might find intersting.

Cheers

Ian

wcp all the way for me. I like it so much I have two copies, one for my own laptop and one for a mini laptop that does the rounds (bookeeper and bloke that keeps it all up to date). I also have a pda that goes everywhere.

The whole thing cost £1900 including laptops, so far it has all paid for itself. Wcp is the corgies conkers if you are serious about the future. Ian (the writer) has been a top bloke and is always asking what sort of changes he can make to make it better and more efficient.

The way I see it at the moment is that george is similar to trad and wcp is more like wfp. Embrace the future, thats what I say.

nothin ventured nothin gained.

The only thing you need the internet for is for validation of the license and if you want to receive automatic updates.

Thanks

You never know Ian...I may come over to the dark side later in the year...I just have a load of things on my plate at the moment. I look forward to seeing all the great things you have got in store...

I hope that I did not come across as taking a 'pop' your service and customer handling were outstanding and your product just did not fit with how I saw it at that time...but with that said even at that stage it was very impressive...and loads of people here have nothing but praise for you and the product...

Good Luck
Dave.
