hi guys
obviously we all try to clean with tds 000, but how high a tds reading can you allow your water to go to to  realistically clean well without spotting or smearing???
Cheers

Don't go there and you cant blame the water.

Some say 005 some have said 025, then some people say he drives fast and has a pink bath, commonly known as the stig.

I once cleaned my own glass with tap water, tds 43, and was amazed to find how clean the glass looked fron only 4 feet away inside and out, really clean, however.... from 4 inches away it was covered in spotting, so I guess it all depends on how pernikity your custies are really.

pernikity! what a very undervalued and underused word. like it. ;D

10 max. but rinse more if you are going to use it at that.

When my DI can in the shed goes above 2-3 i`ll change it as for the can in the van i would never let it go above 000 what`s the point keep it at 000 and stop trying to save a few pence.

I have, by accident, gone out with a tank at 30ppm, I did a day of top quality estate work with it, approx 30 houses.

When I realised what had happened I expected a day putting it all right but never received a single complaint, I even spoke to a couple of the customers that I know well and they hadn't noticed any difference.

You can easily get away with 10-15ppm if your cleaning technique is good, do not spend too much time worrying about these things, just clean correctly and earn the money.

ive even used it by accident in the 40's , still no complaints

My Mrs fills my containers while I'm out working, she had not checked the TDS, when I checked it it was 56 and I had been using it all day. I had no complaints either, but I had noticed some spotting.

am really surprised ionics said that?? the rule is 000 nothing more, theres no excuse, if your running low order your resin before you run out

what's the point of resin then as the ro produces pure water at 2/3ppm

I was really surprised the person admitted it seeing that they rely on the sales of their colour change resin, but as for the 'rule of 000', There is none. Since my resin ran out about 18 months ago I have been producing water of 005/006 from my RO and I have never had 1 complaint, and I do my own windows 6 weekly and always check them from inside.
That is why I asked Ionics, as I wanted to see what they said! Good on the person for being honest!

Oh, by the way, I have an Ionics PRO-5 and it is the RO on that that gives me the 005/006. I  do look after it very well though and flush it once a week with about 50-100lts of pure water (left over water in my tank).

I work to 000/001 but get a bit lazy and as the resin gets used up I may make up a 600L tankful with say 004/5 and I'll use it rather than dump it.
It's a game of three halves!

I haven't gone higher than 003/4 for a couple of years - and even that was accidental as I didn't check it for a while.  I prefer to keep it to 000.  That way, at least if there are any problems, I know it's not the water.
