Having read the posts on here it seems the consensus is that hot WFP is superior to cold. When requesting a quote recently the supplier maintained that the same results can be achieved with cold.

I mentioned one-off cleans and conservatory roofs heavily stained with algae etc. but they still said cold is just as good and I'd save £2500.

They obviously have a vested interest in selling me a hot system and would have no reason not to as it's less profit for them.

Any opinions on this?

hot is best..

if just for maintenance cleans then cold is just as good.

hot is no different on regular cleans but is quicker on first time cleans and the sort of one offs that you have mentioned. also it wont freeze in the hoses during very cold winters. we have been thinking about going hot but when weighing up the cost of the machine plus the expense of the extra diesel to run it i couldnt see the added value for the money required.

The benefits are, easier to use, no faults or complaints (apart from the things that catch us out anyway- there is less room for operator error as it is virtually idiot proof), and does a better faster job.

The drawbacks are set up cost, daily running cost(£6 pd diesel, £1 pd gas), safety concerns, insurance concerns, and damage if the water is too hot.

The suppliers are correct cold is just as good but needs more care and effort.

I agree with the others.

One of my vans is a hot set up. The lads hardly ever use the hot (Except to warm their hands in the winter)

although perfectly legal, who wants a 1000 gallon tank in the front garden that a tanker has to deliver to.

...1've already got five vans on the drive.....

I use red diesel for pressure washing and I don't need a1000 gallon tank in my front garden. I take the four 25 litre containers to the pump, fill them up and pay about 55p per litre.

Why do you need to have the large tank. Can you not buy it at the pump??

didn't know garages sold it, thought it was restricted to farms- who have it delivered. I've run vans for twenty years and never been dipped so you should be okay.

No I only ever use white diesel in my vans, I have been pulled by VOSA and dipped by the police about two months ago.

Not all garages sell it but there will be one near you. Ive got two in my immediate area that I can get it from, one is 30p more expensive than the other!!, so you might want to find a couple of places that sell it.

You will cut the diesel price, used per day, in half.

If you go hot water don`t bother having a marine tank for fueling it get it plumbed straight into the vans fuel tank it`s so much more simple you won`t have any smelly diesel everywhere and won`t have to worry about running out,don`t think you can run a heater off of 1 battery because you can`t it will draw 10 times the amps of a pump so you`ll need to piggy back 2 leisure batterys and take them in for charging every 10 days or so.The new ionic hot box has a built in charger and battery and also has a summer winter setting,i wished i`d waited now because i could have used Thermopure on my van livery.

I have been using heating oil Kerosene with much better results from the heater
ie no more blocking of jets and filling the road full of smoke when it fails to start??lol
