In our house we both the same.

We go away and the wife, who is a house cleaner, rubs her finger along the daydo rails in the corridors, and Im always looking at the carpets.   We lead a sad life.  :(

Last April we had 2 days away in a very nice hotel in the Lake District.
We got moved from the first room we were in after an hour - complained about the dirty carpets, greasy headboard (as well as draught thro the window frames).  :o

Same as Joe we go away but we have to make room in the boot for "her cleaning kit" The first hour when we arrive is check it all out and clean what has been missed. I must admit i do look at the carpets..................sad life we lead, its an obsession, not just a job!!!!

I think it's the same in a lot of professions.I used to be a chef and it was the same when i used to go to a restaurant regarding how the food was cooked whether it was right etc etc .Now as a cc like you guys always checking the state of the carpets .Think it is because we are professionals and take pride in our work .

We are real saddoes. We can't stand hotel rooms or most eating out establishments. Ever looked inside the pillowcase or under the sheet?

We have a caravan so we know what's going on- cheaper too.

Hi

If you looked at the mattresses in any hotel, even 5* ones, you'd never stay in a hotel again.

Case in point is the Thistle in Brighton, went to do a price/quote for them and 'oh my God' hence why I will never stay in there.

Regards
