I clean one particular old house up the top end of Pinner that has a date on it 1864. The windows are original and quite dodgy leaded glass that moves around and leaks.
When the house was built it would have been surrounded by fields in a leafy lane. Pinner was in those days very much a country village. Its quite a big house and would have had servants and everything.
The owner of the house was telling me he has been doing a bit of "house detective" investigation to try and learn who had lived there in the past. He's found out quite a lot and its very interesting. The lives and the families that have passed through that house over the years is quite amazing.
It left me wondering about all the window cleaners who must have polished those little glass squares over the years. Quite scary when you think about it. All of them gone and totally forgotten now, as I will be forgotten in a few years time.
Mind you, its not the first time I have been doing something and wondered how many men have done the same thing before me. But thats a story for another time!
