Is my pump about to die?
« on: March 30, 2009, 07:25:50 pm »
I have a Shurflo 100psi and the sound it makes has changed slightly today.

There is a little bit more of a rattle or vibration to it today, should I be ordering its replacement yet?

you can get new diaphram for 25 quid, could take it apart and have a look, really easy just take off 3 screws,

if it has a little pre filter before the pump this may have become sightly blocked try removing it and giving it a good wash it might be just the pump struggling to pull the water through.
better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove any doubt

Could just be air, give the feed pipe to pump a shake whilst it's pumping and see if the sound varies.

If you dont have a pre filter the pump may be full of bits of plastic from where the lid an outlet were cut in the tank. Try taking the end of the pump off and having a look.

Worth a try.

Check the fittings that secure the pump to your van.

Does the sound get louder the higher you turn up the pump?
