Chemical Cleaning - bathstone cleaning
« on: March 30, 2009, 03:51:50 pm »
Ive been asked to clean a big building by "chemical cleaning".
It's stone and bathstone.

But what IS chemical cleaning?
They dont want steam cleaning, and high pressure is a no-no.

Can anyone help me please, I need to know if I can take this job on or not by the end of the day latest.

Thanks

Richy

No,
Just a clean.

They want a chemical clean that is environmentaly safe.
The bathstone and stone wall is dirty and needs to be cleaned.
What chemicals should i use for this job?

Go onto www.nsraweb.com and ask, its mainly stone guys in the states but they would probably help you.
Natural stone floor restoration service.
Natural stone fixing and repairs.

it is an horrible job to do so price well the chemical from tensid are enviromentally friendly but they burn skin badly, make sure you wear protective clothing gloves and face mask when using the chemicals, also make sure all glass and metal door handles etc are protected as the chemical will damage them.
It is a two chemical job, first the degreaser is applied by brush this is an heavy alkaline cleaner and has to be used to remove grease before the acid applicatiion can work, this degreaser is left on for about twenty minutes and then powerwashed off, next the acid is brushed on left to dwell for again about twenty minutes and then again powerwashed off some areas if particularly bad  may need another application of acid.

How long does it take to mask up a standard 3 bed semi?
instead of masking up you can buy a coating that you paint onto windows it dries into what is like a plastic sheet which peels off when job is finished, we found with masking that occasionally chemicals got behind and we had to replace the odd window.
