I am not sure wether to go for a diy van mount or trolley, but even if I go for a trolley, and will still need to store some extra in the van to refill incase I dont have another water source.

Now my question is, if I do get a DIY van mount, how can you secure the tank, can you drill int othe floor of your van etc, and also can I put it to the back of the van, or does it have to be in the middle. The reason is because I would like to use the side door instead of the back door.

You have got to be having a laugh havent you, I bit of wood wedged in and a bungy  : I would say this is how not to ever do things  I am totally shocked how little you care for your well being, and pass this on to others

ok, I should mention that there is no bulk head, it actually has back seats but they fold down then forward

when the seats are forward its exactly like a panel back, if I was really struggling for space, they can easily come out.

I liked the idea of this, because I could use it as a private vehicle as well.

I am not sure, if I can get parking and I like the method, ever one I can use it on, but say 20 a day tops. most days I really only do about 12/15 though. I normally go home for dinner, dry cloths and change water while I am have something to eat, so refilling halfway through the day wont be a prob.

with a small tank  ratchet  staps would be ideal just use heavey duty ones, 125l tank full would be about 160kg a bit odd wood holding 160kg should uoi have a crash I would not recommend, but at the same time it is a small amount compared to other tanks I use 650l tanks in my vans so different story there. You could well be able to get a skid mounted tank so you can remove easy that could be an option, I think Alex gardiner knows about this, I dont.
when you start you will use a lot more than 125l in a half a day but if tyou live near enough you could fill maybe twice a day, with a transfer pump it would take less than 5 mins for a little tank.

I was think about a trigger to preserve water, and rent a stand pipe for filling. So I could fill it at differnet locations.

Ok so if I use rachet straps, what do I hook it too. Do you buy loops and screw them to your floor. Should I get a mechanic to fit them or something or is it easyish?

I personally would get a garaage to fit them will not cost a lot. do you know what your tds is out of tap?

The important thing is that it must be secured to the chassis of the van.  Screwing it to the floor is worse than useless, as most floors are very thin steel and will rip like tissue paper in the event of a crash.

I use two lengths of angle iron across the bed of the van, secured down through convenient chassis members with high tensile bolts.  You can then drill the upright web of the angle iron in suitable places to attach the hooks of your ratchet straps, but make sure the straps are VERY HEAVY DUTY.  I get mine from Robert Harwood Ltd (www.rhtltd.co.uk)

This system will rip up the entire van floor, chassis and everything else before it lets go.  Face it: if you have a crash that bad you'll be dead before the tank reaches you

You should have several seat belt points in the back if it's got seats. I would have thought you could use these with heavy duty lashing eyes and bolts.

there is, and it has a renforced floor as it was used for carrying wheel chairs before I got it and has 4 loops, but its to the front.

I would really like it at the back, also these loops where designed for securing small weights compared to 125litres of water so dont know how good they would be.  

An ideal situation for me would get it secured to the back, then I could use the side doors which are convient and also still have use of the seats if I come to need them.

The securing the tank bit is the bit that puts me off alittle to be honest, but if I could get my mechnic to sort out the securing fixings. Where could I buy these. is there kits out there you can buy?

Where can you buy the cages I here people talking about?

Not being rude, I just look at pure freedom and there kits are about half the price, so I get the impression they would charge me quite a bit for fitting.
