LOST COUNT
« on: March 28, 2009, 10:09:31 am »
With yet another T/M in the for sale section I've lost count of the number of machines coming on the market recently.

This one apparently needs some TLC but at £1800 must be real value for someone ready to take the plunge.

I wonder if these people selling are giving up or upgrading.... I sincerely hope they're upgrading!

Robert

I have been thinking the same and as you say its a bargain, just for the person who can sort out all the probs with it.

Dont forget its costing the t mount to work with fuel so they have to put the extra on for the job and with c cleaning sort of becoming a luxury for some price will come into the factor at some point ???

I would also presume spare parts that are imported from the US will have doubled in price due to drop
in the pound.

Clinton,

you dont have to add any extra to the price ticket at all ,because of the fuel.

i can run a t/m and burner   on red deisel   for around  £30 per week , thats a busy week , you make your money by saving time , so no need for extra price.

Infact when I think about it it can be embarrasing, when I have a small job min charge @ £45 and it takes 20 mins , still shouldnt moan really ;)

parts well I,ve had portys , and forever spending money on pumps . motor rewinds vac motors etc .

who ever said dont knock before u try ,i never tried dog crap but i know i wouldnt like  haha

Hi geoff

Just was going to ask that question and have never asked it before.

That does not sound bad running on the red deisel ???

How much does the petrol running t mount cost per hour or the prowler ???

Yes can imagine on the small jobs taking little time and doing the job ;D

My 318 uses about £30 normal week but can be more if its running on one job all day.

Clinton just cut back on your weekly perm and hair care products and you wont notice the fuel mate :) :) ;D

petrol t/m's cost about £5 an hour to run but you have to remember that you can extract ( not clean) a 3 bed house in 1 hour. if you turn your machine off in between pre sprays (which i do) then it hardly effects the cost off the job.

My 318 uses about 3 to 3.5 litres an hour so approx £3.50, less on upholstery as I turn the revs down.

The speed helps but after using a porty for so long a bit of a shock to the wallet.

Clinton are you going to be the next to take advantage of  a bargain ebay TM ?

no clinton, if you work for 20 hours a week, and lets say you work for £50 an hour, thats £1000. your TM will only be running for about 8 hours, so thats £40 per £1000 earnings.
depends how you work but i turn TM off when not in use so for intance, a 1 hour job will be sorting furniture pre spraying and agitating, then TM on, extract for 20 to 30 mins then off and finish the job. if i was doing a smallish living room, the TM would only be switched on for about 10 mins, also, you can do twice as much with a truckmount so you can increase your takings dramatically anyway.

Yes got that with the set up and then extracting time :)

Mark

Not sure yet as would like a new set up like yourselves as dont want to go used really as its going to last me hopefully :)

Yes bet its a shock on the wallet and at the mo i keep all the money so it takes time to get used to then.

Hi Guys

I can't say I've really noticed the cost as you can clean so much more that one extra room a week easily covers the fuel.

Like last job yeaterday, i actually did two extra small rooms for 50, total job 130 finished and packed away, 90 mins so hardly back breaking.

It was an oldish later who did not want to spend too much  but the sheer power and cleanability meant I could do her whole(small) house in that time.

Cheers

Doug

I think a lot of people held off despite doing fairly well this year, wondering how the recession will affect them.

With the worst months of the year out of the way and everything looking as good if not better for some, this has led to seasoned pros upgrading and bottom feeders like me siezing second hand opportunities :)
