I've tried malt vinegar - applied neat - (after reading a post about it on this forum) and to be honest it did help a little bit; but it was far from perfect. I've also read (here) about lads using toilet descalers (it's the same type of staining) being used; but never done it myself. There's also a product available from the US; I can't remember it's name; it wasn't cheap and you had to wear protective clothing when using it; so I never bothered with it. Now, I just explain to the customer what and how the stains are caused, and tell them there's nothing I can do about it; but regular cleaning will stop it from worsening.
it may not be lime it may well be pva glue over spray ,
