I had a bad response from leaflets, but I got a great response from knocking doors. Others say they have had a great response from leaflets, so give it a go and see which method works best in your area. Good luck.  :)

Whats your average price per house at the moment?
How many customers do you need to get to £1000 a month?
At say £10 house average you need another 68 customers @ monthly cleans.
You need less than a 1% return on those 10000 leaflets, but is is getting harder out there and seems like quite a few made redundant are giving window cleaning a go, more so now the suns been out for a week :)
Quite possible you can do it but not gonna be easy  (you'll be bored to death come the 3rd week leafleting).

Good luck though

I would have said by 2000 at a time then, you can amend your design as you see fit, if its a good flyer and sells your service well, I dont see why not.

I personally reckon you will get around 0.5% response from 10,000 leaflets and then it will be your selling skills that clinche the deal.

You can do it.
I've built my round up just on leaflets and have nearly 200 customers, just keep on posting them leaflets ;D

I too rate door knocking much better over leaflets but im still having 50,000 delivered this year.
The best way to predict the future is to create it.

We posted close to 5000 leaflets and got 4 custys!!!!! Doorknocked and got close to 40 custys, bought a round and now have close to 120 custys. This is all in three months. From my personal opinion and experience leaflets don't seem to do naff all. We actually got customers that we had leafleted by knocking on the door and they readily admitted anything that comes through the door they throw straight in the bin.!!!!

Had a guy knock on my door with a leaflet for window cleaning, which covers both avenues, so I'm sure he would have picked up a few that way. To be honest to get us started, a bit of canvassing and buying a round is the best thing we have done. Now looking for another one to increase the round and expand!!! Absolutely loving it  ;D
If Carlsberg made window cleaners....I'd be one of them....lol

It's hard for most people to doorknock as NOBODY takes rejection easily,it's human nature to stay in your "comfort zone". I bet you will see alot better growth in your business if you step out of the "comfort zone" and leaflet AND doorknock.
Easy said I know but if the prize is big enough the work to reach it don't matter,if you see what I mean.
If there was a comtortable way to get custies, everyone on here would have more work than they could handle.
If you can find the people on this forum that seem to be doing really well then ask them directly.

what ever way you do it, you will probably hit a natural point where you can't do both window cleaning and current job. remind your customers that they can tell their friends about their fabulous window cleaner.
if i was you, i wouldn't plan on going back after the 6 weeks, and just go for it :o :o
then you have a real incentive to get those customers
