Wondered what distance we travel to our jobs daily or maybe just a couple of times a month.
I am never more than 10 minutes from my home, so I consider my work very compact.However that has taken a long time to acheive.

this is where I wish I was in england, because if I wanted to go to a different area I would have to buy another licence,  but for large contracts £100 plus I guess I would travel an hour, maybe 25 miles if I didn't have to get another licence.

i cover three council areas in central scotland ( 3 licences  ) i reckon i cover around 15k miles a year.

I am about £40 per year, but you need insurance as well, but not for each licence. Some areas are much more expensive though someone put a link on the licence for england post to the prices.

At present 26 Councils licence window cleaners under the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982 and 6 Councils do not.

The below table contains the current Councils that require a window cleaning licence when operating in their area both Business and Sole Trader. Where an application form as well as terms and conditions are on their website we have linked to them to save our members time scrawling through their web site.

Fees – These are set until April 2007

Statistics – This is based against the number of licensed window cleaners in the Council area against the total calculated number of window cleaners working in the Council area. (A) Denotes an actual figure received from the Council.

No Stan, look at this example. I've got 46 custies, just under 60 mile away in one area, average price 12 quid, every six weeks. It takes me two days to do them, so that is all together 4 hrs driving and a daily takings of more than 250 quid. Why is that madness ?

could be working nearer  home for same money and also work the 4 hours you are driving for even more money,people talk about collecting being unpaid well so is driving
