i have just signed for the telephone preferance service and have now registered my phone, fax and mobiles to stop recieving poope calls from every salesmen, loan, mortgage and all the other crap phone calls i recieve in a day also its costing me a fortune in ink with about 50 faxes a day coming through with crap on them and all shaded in black using a load of ink telling me that if i want to stop recieving these faxes then send it back and it will only cost me £1.50 per minute bull#hit.

If any one else wants to stop this then go to www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/[/url]   scroll down to register and it takes about two minutes to fill in form.

Anyone who calls in the 28 day period before it kicks in is easily put off when you say " this number is TPS registered, can i take the name of your company"  ...................................................... instant dead tone as they hang up FAST.

I ask for there name first and then inform the that i'm going to report them normally does the trick , i then put the phone down smiling   Paul

I registered with TPS a couple of weeks ago, and what a relief No more bloody annoying calls that typically come when a genuine caller is trying to get through.

Just tell them you are very buzy and could you take there name and number and you will ring them back! They will then hang up

how does this work do the companies check to see who is registerd on this b4 they call, or does it just block certain companies from calling.
also does it interfere with call divert on bt.

Members of the Direct Marketing Association are meant to check for registered exclusion preferences before cold-calling. This does not always happen. though it has not stopped these nuisance calls for me, registration has greatly reduced the number.

What has been much more effective is registration with the Fax Preference Service, as this is backed up by law.

Do Not Believe it,  80% of the Duck Heads out there that call you have never heard of the TPS.

I have been with them for 18 months or more and I still get the calls!!

Although it did stop the fax calls coming through at 3.00am in the morning.
