What's on TV
« on: April 05, 2005, 08:08:29 pm »

Dont know about you guy's but one of the drags about this job is having to move TV's out of corners with spaghetti bloomin junction hanging out of the back >:( and every thing from a pic of the dog sitting on the top to about a dozen different gadgets attached to it, and then there's the 20 plugs you have to pull out that work everything aswell, and then when you put it back you have to put pads under the thing >:( it can take longer to do this than it does to clean the carpets  >:( >:( >:(

I hate em!

Ian,

I don't think it would be unreasonable to give the customer the option to either move the TV themselves in advance, or clean around it, and knock 1 Sq Mtr off your price.

There's not exactly any foot traffic over that area is there!!

I can see one day you being blamed for breaking someone's TV/DVD/VCR.

Regards.

Hi Mate

We tell our customers that  our company policy is that we are not allowed to move tv's as our insurance poliy does not cover this along with piano's and computers.

Works every time  ;D  ;D  ;D

Try it and let me know  ;)

Similar thing.........I only move such items if SPECIFICALLY instructed and i warn against having electrical items on standby on damp carpet. Advise that condensation could form inside and they soon ask you to clean around it.
These big silver tv units do not like to be moved as they sound as if they would snap in two...........IT AINT WORTH IT  ::)

Care with pianos not moving them that is, it’s cleaning round them that can be a later problem!

Hi Len

Why is that mate?

The main reason for not moving them is cos they are so heavy and also you can knock them out of tune !

If it's a little telly on a stand with wheels, no problem.
If it's one of those massive jobs with Sky, dvd players and all the rest it stays!

I just tell them that if they want me to move it you will have to disconnect all the plugs from the wall!  I'm sure you all know what a nightmare they are to set up again, 99% of the time the reply will be "Oh, just work around it if you can"

Tell the customers that your insurance company does not all you to move TV's etc because of things that can go wrong with them just because they have been moved, (dry joints etc).
