Oh while up  there with it give the fascia board a quick once over. I said thats extra she says it will only take a few seconds cant ya do it as part of the job. I say no she says good bye then i will find someone else >:(
Should i have just done it as a one off to keep the job seeing that im round building?

Hi Steve, how long would it have taken to do the thing? I get people who want the frames done for the same price then look shocked when I tell them it's extra, annoying gits.

I would have stuck to my guns, she would have continued to be a pain, I make it clear what we do when I qoute, if they ask for anything else after they have accepted the qoute I either reuse or tell them I would have to re-qoute the job.

Fascia cleaning is hard work and time consuming. On a €100 house I might give the porch fascia a quick rub if its not too dirty,.. on a £7 house, no chance!

The fascia was across a dormer so no gutter but there was a gutter along the bottom fascia where she had a type of canopy thing. The top bit fair enough i could have done it in seconds but the gutter was bogging and really needed some tfr on it.

no way, your doing it to make a living not to do her a faver, if it was a high price job no problems, your probably best rid of her.

unfortunately these type of customers seem quite common when building a round. It's as though they can sniff out someone new.
I have always found these customers to be bad for morale. You are better rid.

She would have stood a better chance of winning the LOTO than getting me to give  her facias a quick wipe over, Cheecky so & so

You have quoted a price to do a certain job and she thinks she can try it on....given time I would have no doubt that she'll prove to be a right PITA...best off without to be honest.

Cheers
Dave.

Used to have an old girl in a retirement home who used to get me to take all her net curtains down and put fresh ones up for her, all for the princely sum of 'help yourself to a toffee from the jar'. I did it once for her and it somehow became part of the job. It took longer than doing her windows, but she was 92 bless her.
In general though, extras cost extra.

always remember this your new customers are other peoples dumped customers i always ask why is she looking for a new window cleaner? either a pain a bad payer or the job was under priced i have just dumped an old girl who has missed 5 out of the last 12 cleans she was kept on because i was in the street doing 13 other houses now her new w/c'er will have to travel to do one job to find shes out alot of the time she will probably get dumped soon and the cycle goes on and on

The people who have turned out to be the worst customers are the ones who say 'We never seem to have a window cleaner down here' when you know someone must do the other houses...
It sets the alarm bells ringing and every time without exception they are a pain.

My other favourite was the woman who said 'I only have them done in the summer, I'm not interested in having them cleaned in the winter'
'Then you had best get someone else love' I said.  ;D
