idle threats
« on: March 17, 2009, 11:42:57 am »
I had a guy yesterday come up and after about 5 mins pretending he was paint and decorator and wouldnt give his name, he admitted he was a window cleaner and would undercut me if I went near his areas, "I'll do them two pound a house" he said, which made me laugh, anyway I sent him packing and told him I will work where I want.

I asked a few cleaners I know and they dont know him, I think after a persuated him to give a name, it was a made up one he gave, but I got his registration number, anyway I could find out who he is from that?

Call his bluff. go into "his" patch and watch him clean all his custies for 2 quid ;D

Who owns a "patch anyway? Nobody. I'd have fun with people like that.

I thought about that, but there a better areas to canvass to be honnest and whats even better is dont actually work the areas he mentioned, not prodominately anyway. I shook his hand and said "thanks for the so called advice, but I wont be taking it, so you do what you have to, and I'll work where ever I dam well please".

I have had someone like him try this on with me before, yeah there is a code, if you get any customers in those areas you should pass them to me, yeah right, do I look like an idiot.

He must be abit insecure, I mean would YOU go over to another windy and try to scare him off? What a plonker he must be. Good idea to get his reg though, you never know if you will need it but who knows, next thing he will tell you he is ex S.A.S. blah blah   ;D

I would have put him about mid thirties but he was about 5 foot, so I was towering about a foot over his head and made sure I was as close as I could get when shaking his hand. But would love to find out who he is, just to know who I am dealing with.

That's a brave move getting within striking distance. It's the little ones who generally have the heart of a lion.  ;D

The fact that hands were shaken, i think would mean that there isn't a problem to be found.

His words were, i work in blah blah, if you go there I will stop you.
When I made him be a little less ambiguous about his threat, he said I am not talking about violence I am talking about undercutting you. Also it was me who made the gesture of shaking his hand not him. I take that seriously, any action deserves a re-action.

If I was going to do anything underhand I wouldn't post about it on here, and its worrying times for everyone not just him, and I am not going around making idle threats, so there is no excuse.

well deal with it how you seem fit, but i would ignore it, if i was not growing has much has i am i would prob have concerns and be more worried about others taking my work.

i have a family to feed and these times can be extremly hard it was prob frustration getting the better of him.

and by underhand i mean under cutting asking his customers there prices.

Thats what I wanted to do, but if someone seen me I could loose my licence so I really wanted him to have a go, but he wasn't as big as he thought he was. I think he is unlicenced, he wouldn't pull a stunt like that if he was, so all I have to do is find out who he is.
