Most used search term
« on: March 09, 2009, 09:24:51 pm »
What is it for carpet cleaners?

I always use carpet cleaner -------- but is there a way of finding out which is the most used?

I'd have guessed that your URL will position you well for this as I have bought www.carpetcleaningsheffield.co.uk (nothing on it yet)

Pondering if it's a greater benefit in the name or is there a better search term, like www.qualitycarpetcleaninginsheffield.co.uk or is .com just as good?

 ;D

I tried a domain CC area quality but I think it dilutes the phrase with google. .co.uk defo and ideally a UK hosted domain.

You can use the odd dash if the obvious is taken but too many and you get hit.

re name vs cc area have both  :)

So ideally what are you looking for in a name?

I mean have a domain which is your company name so people who know you can find you and have one that relates to the phrase most search on for CC in your area. But of course there are lots of niche  phrases that all add up. Maybe this is where adwords comes into it. ???

No Shaun, It's   .condom  ;D

From my experiences, I would say that a URL ( domain name ) including the city/town you wish to target, also .com rather than .co.uk will rank higher in search engines, "eventually", it will not happen over night.  It is a complex subject, "Search Engine Optimisation" with many theories being bounced around.  Plus, I read that hyphen's should count against you in ranking.  Having said that,  my website ( www.spic-n-span.co.uk ) is well positioned as far as searches on spic n span are concerned.  Believe me, there are internet marketers who spend most of their waking hours trying to crack the "Google Code".

And then they go and change it!

So ideally I my www.carpetcleaningsheffield.co.uk is a good one, are there any sites that can offer most used search terms?

Have you played with adwords Shaun, there are suggestions there unless you want to fork out a few hundred quid.

You can do all this stuff but ultimately it boils down to quality backlinks as far as I can see, which isn't quite as exciting. >:(

Shaun,
I have just checked out your site sheffieldcleaning.com and it is very well placed if not top for a number of search terms and it is a .com.  I searched carpet cleaner sheffield and I think you were top or very close to top position.
You can not improve much on that.  Your site is not bad either.  I think that the big problem is a genuine lack of interest in people looking to have cleaning work done.  When purse strings tighten, cleaning is one of the first luxuries to go, ( yes!!! some people look on cleaning as as luxury item. )

I have just used  a research tool which tells me there are less than 30 searches a month for carpetcleaningsheffield.
But the competion is not great.  Only 1 adwords advertiser - SheffieldChemDry.co.uk.  But there is not much point doing adwords if you are already near the top of the search engines.

CarpetCleaningSheffield.com is owned by a company called AXIS, which you probably already know.  However, the website is poor and only uses a mobile phone number.

IMO I don't think you can do much more, other than enlarging your target area.

Mike,
The software is some I bought recently to help with my Internet Marketing.  It gives a lot of useful information for Internet Marketers in their research for profitable income streams.  If you want to look at it, it is
here:   It is called Micro Niche Finder ---     http://blackcink.kickbutt.hop.clickbank.net/

However, you can look for nothing to find out what it can do, but probably for your purposes you can grab the free tools from google:

Thanks Jim

Yeah for CC it's not worth it.

I downloaded SEOtools for Flock and that's quite informative, but not sure info helps improve rankings.

Hi Clinton, you won't beable to buy a domain name which has already been bought by someone else. It will give you options of a similar one which are available if yours has been bought already.

Theres lots of companies that do it just search 'domain name' on google once on the website do a search for your preferred domain name and it'll show you if its available.

Shaun it depends on the local population as to what words they use. Coloureds use the words washing carpets (not cleaning). Not sure of the Yorkshire term.

I think I'm curious about it more than anything else can't see the point of loading sheffield with my websites 2 is enough, just wondering more than anything what the No1 search term was either carpet cleaners ---- or carpet cleaning ----- or carpet cleaners ----- etc etc

Perhaps Jim may give us more information.
