just purchased a  second hand machine.
old fibreglass shell, aluminium base. 
about 40 litres waste & clean tank.
got 2 1000 watt motors in & 2 gotec pumps very small 
not seen before. all elictrics seem okay also heater elment in clean tank. paid £50 for it.
now the big question, boys and there toys thought i would have ago at re building it.
what motors & pump could i get away with putting in.
would two 3 stage vacs be two strong for casing ect.
any help or advisevwould be much apprietiated.

Hi Darren,

What you propose is feasible.

The problem that often occurs with GRP vacuum tanks is that the resin coat embrittles and cracks with age, leading to splitting.

If the vac tank is sound, however, it should be OK to fit a pair of three-stage vacs.

The Gotec pumps (oscillating piston type) have low flow-rates and pressure, so the addition of a 135psi Surflow pump and replacement of the internal plumbing would convert it to a usable machine.

anyone know where could get one
what sort of water lift could i expect if fitted 2 / 3 stage vacs.

The lid should be very easy to fabricate - I'd go for stainless steel plate, probably with longitudinal reinforcement to combat stress-flexing. The rubber seal could be cut from an old inner-tube.

you're only limited by 3 things really,  the amount of space ( a big pump 300psi+ needs lots room for the motor and vac motors also need room to be plumbed in.

the amount of switches on the machine, when I 've built machines the hardest thing was wiring in new switches for the extra electrics.

and lastly how many suction tubes run into the waste tank, if you have only you will be limited to using 2x3 van motors in series. If you have 2 the you could fit  2x3 in series and a single 3 stage

I would think between 100 to 130" of lift running them in parrallel, I bet JB can give a more exact figure

I can't remember the specs for 2x3 stage in parrallel, but i would imagine they would be quite close to the Alltec machines.  www.alltec.co.uk  The manufacturers usually quote the figures for the components rather than their machine (looks better on paper).

Looking at your pictures, you appear to have only one power cable. If you want to use your heater as well, this MUST be run off a seperate cable/circuit as 2x3stage vacs and a pump are teetering on your 13 amp plug limit.
