why do people mess others about
« on: March 05, 2009, 10:53:56 am »
a few months ago i posted about some work in london, at the time it was roughly 19 K ( its since risen a little )

anyways, i took a few e.mail address's and me and 1 of the people involved decided on who we gave the work to, as it happens its split up a little, 1 of the guys sent me a rather long BUT nice e.mail, he had started up in 6 months ago and was short of work, he has a young family, works 4 days a week and had friday off with the family, we decided to give him a go, afterall we all start off somewhere, i pointed out, i wouldnt rely on the work as it could stop at any time, but for the time involved and the price paid, it was worth it, it could all be done early morning or late night, so could still build a round, we are talking a good hourly rate

anyways, he has done the job twice, he was paid in about 2 weeks of doing it

now he is not answering his phone, not replying to e.mails, now i know he could be ill etc etc BUT i have a feeling he has stopped and doenst want to tell us

all it needed was a e.mail to say, hey matt, i am packing in, thanks for the work, i would have then found some1 else, now it looks like i might have to do it  >:(

I have passed on work to people from this site that have done pretty much the same. Explained the situation and the money for the jobs concerned which they seemed more than happy with then after a few weeks get phone calls from client asking why their windows have not been cleaned and then of course no phones are answered, no emails returned etc. I agree just a call to say its not working out for whatever reason is the very least you would expect.

You always say i'm a knocker, allways having a pop at your liberal attitude, well, i wouldn't have given him  the work on the basis that he had  kids and liked friday off.

Because he shared some of your values he was in. I bet some money mad grafter like myself would have loved that work but got overlooked.

You should go on that secret millionare thing where you have to find someone deserving. They allways pick the best reflection of themselve they can find and then cry like babies when they part with the money.

as it happens, it was the choice of TWO people, myself and a good mate of mine ( this good mate of mine, is completely the opposite of me, a bit of background info on him, we worked off the same van as carpenters for a few years, we became good mates in and out of work, when the council had to make staff cut backs, it was last in, first out, we had to go,  he and his brother started there own biz which employed at times 20 + blokes, he worked all the hours he could,he built up a good biz, then lost it all, he currently is working in london all week and has done for the last 18 months only seeing his family every other weekend ) we both looked at the options and liked what this guy said in his e.mail, he was just starting out and needed the work, we thought we would give him a break, give him a foot on the ladder so to speak, its what decent people do, you seem to be down on starters these days, i am not sure why, i can only imagine its the more competition the more risk

some of the work went to estabished window cleaners aswell, we split it up into area's

i am not sure what to make of the "cry like babies when they part with the money" remark, i just posted a question asking " why do people mess others around " hardly crying is it  ? ??

People mess you about because that don't realize how hard the job can be and change their mind about it but don't have the guts to say.

If the work isn't too far from south Essex then we wouldn't mess you about.

Maybe next time matt chose someone who has been in the game a lot longer.

Some people think its the easiest job in the world then 6 months down the line there doing something else
