DID HUGE BUILDERS CLEAN WINDOWS
« on: March 01, 2009, 07:11:51 pm »
Now this is not the first time we have done builders cleans. We do plenty of them on a regular basis.

to start with my TDS was 000. All the way through.
When the windows dried, Not all of them they had run marks down them.

Now was this due to not enough rinsing?

Or could it have been that the site was so darn dusty they needed a 2nd going over.

Just wondered what the thoughts were.

I don't know what you guys call builders cleans,.. I bring a hammer and chisel with me for the places where the scraper just isn't man enough,.. WFP hasn't a hope!!

No I will agree the WFP did not have much hope.

I did some of the traditionally with a 30 foot pole. Obviously the ground floor ones were easier to do and did those trad.

But I was still unsure why we had some run marks.

you have to get close to the windows as you have to get all the tape of and then wet them up scraper them take the water off i hate builders cleans a lot of work to get them up.

Ok luckily all the tape, glue came off and that was the indside which was fine. As we did those trad!

It was the outside that had a few run marks, I have to assume possibly not enough rinsing was done on my part.

Are you sure it was not some kind of stabalising solution that they use to seal stone work, that stuff will never come off with wfp but can look like drips or rund.

Gordon
Quality is doing it right, even when no-one is looking.

Now this is a thought because even when I did them traditionally. There were still run marks. And guess what no actual runs. Seemed to be part of the glass, stained as it were.

Never thought of that

THANKS

Builers clean WFP i don`t think so not if you want the job again,if there`s scaffold i would tell not to take it down before i`ve been so i can get off all tape silicone etc trying to do a builders clean WFP is pointless IMO.

Well there was no other option. But to use WFP on the 2nd floor, though the hight was like at 4th floor hight

1. Style of house
2. the glass windows went from top to bottom of the building not like in a normal terrace house. This house was a new design and futuristic.

3. scaffolding for them too expensive and was not in place
4. they wanted it as cheap as possible.
5 They did not want the cost of a cherry picker (all options and more were given)

traditional was done inside and the bottom ground floor. And absolutley yes, they want us for other jobs. They were so so pleased it was unbelievable.
Even the owners of the house asked for our ncard and said when finished in a few day they want us to quote. So all round a great result. And not all builders cleans have glue and labels on the outside. They mainly on the inside.

Also if you are good enough you can use WFP on builders cleans we have on all of our others with great results.
