hi all, just looking at another angle to my windowcleaning buisness, there,s a lot of shops about with tags and graffite all over the glass, the cost of replacing a shop window must run into thousands of pounds,i understand that it,s possible to buy kits that remove all the scraches from the glass, this i,m shure could be done at a fraction of the cost of replacement,is anyone out there aware of where i could purchace the kit,,any help would be greatfully appreciated,,kev

A few months back I was trying to remove some scratches from a fish tank and did a lot of research on the subject, if you google scratch glass removal there are loads of kits you can buy.
Several stages are required to remove a scratch, the final polish is with a powder called cerium oxide. However as I found out from doing my fish tank it takes a long long time. An hour to remove scratches about an inch long with a pad on a cordless drill. The proper kit should be faster but it's still not a five minuet job.
I was thinking of doing the same until I tried in on my tank, no way hosay.

Hi,
I have used buffing wheels to remove scratches from glass, when I was making double glazed windows, & there is a lot of hard work involved, & potential problems!
The main problem is that it takes ages to remove scratches, depending on the length & depth of the scratch, & whether the glass is toughened,or float. One other huge problem was that if you don`t keep the buffing wheel moving at all times, you end up with a wheel sized dip in the glass, that really shows up, & more than a scratch, & then I guess the customer will want the glass replaced!
