Had a call, going to take a look tomorrow, the lady has bought some brand new teak furniture from DF* that has left stains on her cream carpet.

Don't hold much hope for this one, but does anyone have any good tips that I might try?

How about hydrogen peroxide after testing of course.

sodium met would be my last resort with my new technique after testing of course, would be last resort though.
sod met will deffo get rid of it but may leave a slighly yellow mark.

don't forget i'm a newbie though so i'm just chewing the fat so to speak till the big boys come along.

The lady said she contacted DF* who sent one of there staff to attempt to remove the stain - failed.

Now she has a written letter from DF* stating she should contact a professional CC and they will reimburse her costs for this service.

Derek, whats this product? where can I get it from?

Sodium Metabisulphate available for beer making shops - steralise jars for brewing etc.
Fairly cheap - about £1 something for a small amount.

I dont know who,s told you sodium meta will defenitly shift it because it definitly wont, You may have a little success, but to say it will definitly shift is wrong, I hope you dont guarantee this to your custys.

I have had a good success rate on stubborn red wine stains and the like , furniture dye a little less.

You do need to mix with very hot water , to the point were it will scald you for the best results.

Thats more like it Derick , improved been the operative word, how ever you really should,nt be guaranteing ,even an improvment , 2 reasons really the first , you may not improve at all and secondly ,although you may improve , a custys perception of improving may be completly different to yours, and custys are strange creatures

dont go smelling the stuff when mixing, and inform the custy of the smell , and ensure nobody suffers with asthma or bad chest , it can effect.

Derek, your offer to improve will be unlikely to be good enough as the custy wants it to be removed.

The way to handle this is to do a report and charge for that.

totally understand where your coming from but if i think i can improve it i will guarantee it, then if the custy's not happy, they don't pay. i'm happy with that, i'm learning so i need all the practice i can get. i know a lot of you guys frown upon my freebies but i aint gonna change, its just my way of doing business, i get practice and the customer gets piece of mind. no result, no fee.
i have turned some stains down so i don't give it a go, willy nilly.

trust me, i'm a carpet cleaner.

not sure about PP, all mine have been on wool, shaun said it wouldn't work as good but until i test it, i'll keep an open mind, can't see why it won't.

done 3 irrimoveable stains so far, all other quotes from other cc's said it won't come out, i said i could improve it considerably and they used me. so for me personally, the improvement approach is working. all though i would point out that these were in with full cleans and not just stain removal jobs, they may be different.

The point I am making is that this is DFS's problem and your customer is unlikely to accept an improvement, which she would do if it was her mistake.

Offer to assess and write a report , charge 60 Pounds and she can claim of DFS.

Make sure she pays you .

As Joe said "what's the story?" Do DFS actually sell teak furniture? Teak is well expensive hard wood. Wouldn't have thought DFS would use it in construction. But I may be getting off the point.
Unusual for new furniture to leave wood stain marks. So has custy spilt something in which case DFS may not be liable.

This would be one of those perfect situations to practise AND charge as you are not liable to the customer but in this case to DFS. (Yes I know this is not actually your case.)Doug mentions about £60 for report. This would include what the stain was, the material in the carpet, how its constructed and how fitted to the floor. And you should charge for the attempted clean/improvement.

Finally the client should pay you and they will get reimbursed by DFS. DFS will recompense the custy quickly; if you invoice them directly they have no interest in keeping you sweet and will manage to loose the invoice/forget who you spoke to/claim no knowledge of your report etc.

Do you wet the carpet first or do you apply dry?
