I have just found out the guy who has got my davidmorris website has ceased trading and i cant get hold of him.

This is the second time i have lost a website domain

First it was dmwindowcleaning , now my david morris.

A tip for anyone who is having a website done, make sure you buy the domain yourself and organise your own hosting.##

I am now ove £300 worst off without a decent website.

Whats more annoying is that is on all my stationary and the £200 worth of business cards i have had done.

or look for a webdesigner that does not do it to you, all domains and hosting I do the names are registered to the person should I stop hosting then the domain can go anywhere else,  I told you about this before, looks like my advice was not taken Dave.

So your tip is not a fair one! You can ask anyone of my customers every domain is theres I just host it and re register them.

Dave send me the details and I will look into it for you, you may have to pay £80 + vat to keep it though, not to me I might add I will not charge you for it. this is what nominet charge. this part of domain names and hosting most people will not know about. The offer is there if you want me to try and help.

Ian

Thanks, I will try to contact the guy first.

Fair play if you buy the domain on behalf of your client rather than yourself.

I was just trying to put the point over that make sure it is registered in your own name.

The guy who was doing my website i thought i could trust, same as if i got you to buy it on my behalf.

But as you said there are a lot of people who can vouch for you, so thats good.

i prefer your 1st one mate 8)

my 1st website wot i done meself was:

www.gacontracts.synthasite.com   ( the url was masked to gacontracts .co.uk  )

i still have:

www.highlevelwindowcleaners.co.uk  ( practically the same site, again put together by myself and helps for google ratings)

but then Nat came along and done me a proper site:

www.gacontracts.co.uk

a website is relatively easy to put together if you know how to type in the words "free website maker" in  google. :D

Do people really think a free site is good for there business image I am not knocking I am just asking as it really does baffle me, there are so many reasons not to have one, and the only slight positive part I can see is it being free (well for now anyway)

i dont agree window washers...simply because a free website is the 1st step in buying into a proper one....i only had my free one for around 6 months and i KNEW i had get a proper one done, if i didnt have a free one to play about with i reckon i wouldnt have bothered with the Professional one. 8)

Have to agree with scrimman, free websites are a great introduction to building something on your own, and sorry, but there are more reasons to have one and learn, than not to!

anyone remember free net name ? if you do you will know full well what I am saying.

I find it a very strange way to push a business forward yet go back to do it 6 months later properly.

I agree it is worth having a website, but why not get it right the first time ???
Ian

p.s Scrimman im not having a pop at you, I just find it an odd way to do it thats all.

and i am not having a pop at you either ;D

a lot of guys are like me, they are wary of paying for something they dont or cant see the benefits of, ie will i get a a lot of jobs from my website?....do i REALLY need one?....etc...then they set about building their own one, and they like the idea of being able to see the results of their own input on a webpage,  the customer sees the text/pics/links that they put on, and thats a good feeling.....but then a while down the road they feel they need to do something thats suits their image/purpose/etc and have had the time to save up the readies for a "proper" site....thats me.

then there are other guys that seem to latch on straight away (like yourself window washers).....but we are all at different levels/stages in life and some folks dont buy into the whole "got to have a proper site from the beginning" to be of value......and some do...like me and you and the other guys who have a DIY or a PROPER site :)

i am happy enough plodding away and SLOWLY building my empire ;)

Looks very good to me David - see Tosh, he didn't need me at all!  ;D

Just one or two inconsistencies with unnecessary capital letters on some words e.g. for "Hotels" and "Schools" and capitals mid-sentence for "And",  "Take", "Staff" and "Just" at various points where they should not be.

Also SAFEcontractor and Safecontractor should be consistent I suggest.
It's a game of three halves!
