I think Jeff has mentioned this before; but I don't know about it properly.
You maybe better off posting this in Matts DIY site? There's probably stuff about it there already?

let me know when you have signed up, i can then let you post
ref the pole
it looks like 1 of them blue ( something or other ) flag poles
im sure it was discussed that the 9 M was too short by the time you cut the end of it, i think the 11 M is better

Its a job to make them stay up, I use pvc tape. Its how PeTer Fogwells first pole started out but he is now producing a newer version called a clampless pole-its fast. Here is another link. ( 9 meters will get you an 18ft pole, not reccomended unless you know what your doing.

You can get an extra 1.5m by using an unger no1 section and sliding it inside the Harris no1
Otherwise try a RT Gangster which wil give you a 30ft light carbon composite modular pole.

i bought a 16 metre shimano forcemaster. not bothered with the first four sections so i have got approximately 35 foot . it is very light , strong and does not bend at all . i only use it for the occasional job and would not want to chuick it round all day like i do my harris but it is majic at what i wanted it for. if i ever need a longer pole i will just buy the extentions at 50 quid each .

Fishing poles give rigid stiff control, are a joy to use all day and are cheap compared to buying from a supplier, my £249 F16 is still going3-1/2 years later but now suggest that the Map M16 is stronger if a tad more expensive at £320
Kary how much was your shimano ?

Thanks guy, not really looking to go down the modular route, I saw the telescopic pole on ebay and thought it may be a good alternative
