seriously

she was nice enough to offer you tea and a slice of cake

it was only 5 quid, she i doubt had any money in her purse and would have paid you next time

i cannot see the issue,  old people might not have money in the purse etc etc

its only 5 quid, a touch untrusting of you if you ask me

tea and cake sounds good to me, its all part of business building and customer service and customer relations, if she says she will pay you the take her word for it, its only a fiver after all. ;)

Try that in your local shop and see what happens....why do some people think they can get away with it....sorry but we run business's and whether a fiver or 500...if you take a service you should be prepared to pay for it.

I try to be polite to all my customers but in the same vein I still want paying and in a timely fashion.

I think it is just very cheeky at best.

Cheers
Dave.

i agree, you wouldnt wonder into the local shop not having any money planning to pick up goods, if you cant payfor the service you just called upon then dont ask! cup of tea or no tea!

is that just a sign of the times

as i can remember when i was younger, i could go into the local shop to get something for my mum and if i didnt have enough money ( i would allways add some sweets ) they would allways say " no worries, pay next time you come in "

community spirit has gone i guess

no offence to newclean, but this post just highlights todays problems, he cannot even trust a old dear for 5 quid, taking into account she made tea and a slice of cake, its all rather sad

Oldies in old peoples complexes are sometimes a bit batty - I'd give her the benefit of the doubt 'til next time.
It's a game of three halves!

When a new customer who has asked me to clean the windows talks about the ins and outs they start to panic about frequencies and payment I always make a point to say...

'Don't worry about money yet, let me get them clean and I will see you later...no worries'

I like to build a rapport with my customers and understand they have to trust me just as we have to trust them.

ok lets says she didnt offer a cup of tea and biscuit and said give my windows a clean i havent got any money for a month... YEAH RIGHT LOVE jog on!
Yes your probably going to get your money in the end, but thats not the point hes trying to make. its the fact she asked for you to clean her windows without paying for at least a month, some people need all the money they can get not all of us are well off..
