Doing a suck up this arvo ,for the estate agy i work for.I am assuming it`s just a broken pipe ,due to frost,and not an actual flood,no idea what hr rate to charge them !
Any one else do this sort of work ? will be getting the agy to hire a commercial de humidifier once i have gone

Thanks John  Just called custy,it`s one of his rentals and not through the agy,pump had bust and mains pressure water has been blasting out since 1am this morning,he was there at 5 am,just wants a suck up,think he is renting to students so,he is not overly concerned about the carpets !
Part of the cieling has come down in the lounge too,sounds like it`s going to be fun

Take photo's, document all you do and get landlord to sign he agrees with end result. Make sure you get paid straight away as he may try afterwards to go through insurance.

 Done loads of suck-ups,can bite you in the arse.

First of all who is going to pay for it and is the carpet worth saving?

Its not just a 'suck up' there is more to it than that, as the picture says above, do they want the underlay removed and replaced?

Its usually a good idea to pull the carpet back, and extract the excess water from the back of the carpet and the underlay, the less water there is the quicker it will dry out.

I would suggest you extract the water as best as possible, balance clean the other unaffected areas to blend the wet area in, that way you wont get a tide mark across it.

Put a dehum AND an air mover in at the same time, make sure the heating is on, this is the industry norm now, the fan circulates the air around the room and that way it dries out quicker and if you can, shut the door otherwise you are drying out areas that arent wet. If its a wooden floor it will dry out quicker than concrete as the water/air has space to move.

When its dry, spray a microbial on it, that way it wont go mouldy with the student mess on it.  And the going rate is about £40.00 for call out and first hour and £20 per hour after that, the good ol' days of tearing the @rse out of it have gone.

Little tip. If  the ceilings artexed, don't put any drying equipment in until you have an asbestos test done, as you could be in a lot of trouble of  if the artex is found to be positive.

Just got home what a day ! Started at 8am home at 7.57,been a good earning day though so will make up for the ones where i am sat on my arse in front of the puter all day 

Gave Mr kelly a call this morn,thanks for the advice John !
Payment is not really an issue,friend of a friend,and i am sure when i drop off his invoice tomorrow,he will pay me 
He works at the estate agent that use me,and also has a lot of houses that he rents out.
This was one of his,worst area was landing stairs,hall,bedroom on ground floor,cheapy polyprop,no underlay,sucked up 50ltr ,then extracted with fib and fab and a good dose of od fresh.
They have a dehumidifier,one that i have lent them,i use it at home as i don`t have a damp course 
As he is claiming on ins said £65 call out,was there for an hour so £40 for the hour.
Snowing like mad on way home,a14 upto it`s usual too, not fun.Took me over an hour to drive from 1 side of Cambridge to the other,should have taken max 15 mins.
All good though,not such a manic day tomorrow,Home by 1 if i manage to get to work
