yeh i like the avatar as well  ;D

mike on your leaflet  ,i would rethink the free frame cleaning,

as some frames will take you longer than the windows, especially as your trad

Yeah best avatar on CIU? :P (apart from maybe tosh's lol)

What if I just say it's free, then charge em, but not tell em? They might think theyre getting a better deal but I just put the price I would usually do it up a bit.

I'm only going to do the frames and sills as and when they need it really.

always do the cills in with the windows anyway

but if they want the frames cleaned, always charge extra

if you get wfp its much easier to clean the frames for free

BUT  i would always charge the extra ;D

like the flyer

the lads are right about the frames. they are extra on trad but a lot of wcs myself included wipe them anyway as a matter of pride

cills you wipe anyway as all the muck you bring down of the glass sits on them and turns them black, i have taken over many windows with black cills and thats why they sacked their wc

i put frames included on mine and raise my quote to cover to cover the extra work, in reality the frames dont take long to wipeover and you soon get into the habit of doing it

after a few cleans your scrims dont go black and the frames start to gleam

tell your clients it will take several cleans to get their frames properly clean

wfp clean frames as standard so your clients now expect clean frames

buy multipacks of good quality prewashed scrim as you will get through a lot when you start doing frames

i have a damp scrim over my left shoulder and a dry over my right, i wipe frame with damp and then with dry and do any detailing on the glass with dry

when i say damp scrim i dont mean wet  i mean almost dry, as the day goes on your dry scrim becomes your damp scrim and a new dry from the van

your damp scrim goes in the washbag, wash your scrims seperate to the family wash................no fabric softener , it turns them into dusters

keep a good stock by you and when they start getting a bit threadbare and leaving bits everywhere use them as cloths and dusters around the house

another point to watch with upvc windows is the black seal, water gets under it and seeps out when your gone leaving water marks on the glass so when your soaping miss the seals completly and use a damp scrim to clean the seals and dry to detail , takes longer but you want a good reputation

again the wfp boys dont have this problem, which is another reason wfp is quicker

it all sounds a bit of a faff but with practice it becomes quick and easy

whoever decided there was nothing to wc was a twat

;) All I can say is sound like you've been on here for years ;D ;D ;D
Seem to know exactly what to ask, man you got a lot of answers... all good ones as well ;D ;D ;D

Only advice I can give is this...

Frames & Sills can be very, very dirty! marketing as you have, may work, but you should factor it into the price i.e  Always charge more! ;)

As for 20% off first clean... this is just begging to be "USED" by unscrupulous people!
They will get the First clean... then they'll cancel!
I've had this...
I offer Monthly, Bi-monthly & One off's
To illustrate
Monthly =£10
Bi-monthly = £15
One Off's = £20

Had one... "Yer Monthly, cheers"
Paid £10 (plus £5 First clean)= £15
When I got home he had already cancelled, brother was going to do them, from now on!
Just used me to remove YEARS of muck!...
ok I lost a fiver (and time) but on a bigger house, it soon added up! ::)

So my advice is always charge a first clean supplement! :)

Have you done any yet?

Personally, any more than two-hours a day door-knocking used to do my head in; all those refusals, but everyone was polite with me; even the lady who was wrapped up in a towel, dripping wet from the shower was pleasant to me (and I'm not sure I would've been if someone had done that to me).

This idea keeps soundin better and better!

Haven't done any yet, I've got to get me flyers done (printing them myself instead of a printers, too dear).   Think I'll just do it monday-friday from half 5 till about 7 ish.

I'm not going to drop any leaflets though without knocking. I think I'll talk to them first, if they've got a WC ill say hold on to this just in case.
