Yes, there are portables around now that are specifically designed for tile and grout cleaning. They normally have pumps which produce 1200 psi pressure and have auto dump / auto fill capabilities.

do you want to rinse a floor or pressure clean it??

If you're using chems & agitation, you need to rinse it, a 100psi porty will do the job.  If you want to blast it from dry, to clean it in one process, then you might need  1000psi plus.

Yes - I want to blast it from dry, to clean it in one process!

Are there many portables around that operate at 1000 PSI ?

& also are they adjustable so you can turn down pressure when cleaning carpets?

I just use a rotary scrubber and a very good wet vac, as you need the cleaner to dwell on the tiles, just using water doesn't work, trust me as my main buisness is stone and tile cleaning.

Can't be sure, but I think Alltec do something suitable too, or they certainly did when I was there a couple of years ago.

Safe and happy cleaning :)

If you are going to clean internal tiles & grout, you will still need to apply a cleaning solution and or dwell time and aggitation, especially for the grout. Cleaning from dry will probably not give you the desired result even when using high psi.

I found this site http://www.cleantileandgrout.co.uk/

They appear to be using truckmount system with what looks like a 'Turbo Hybrid Hard-Surface Cleaning Tool'

From the pics it look like they are 'cleaning from dry'

Let me know what you think!

Just went on that clean and grout website and read about their business opportunity.

£ 49500 !!! for a turnkey business - that's a lot of bloody hard flooring you need to clean to see a return on your investment.  :o

Yes i agree. Why not just buy the kit and set it up yourself for a lot less money?

Just found this on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2dDJJSkPlU&feature=related

says in the comments-

"Anything Alkaline (between 7.1 - 11) is safe. High Pressure = 1200 - 1500 psi. and you want to extract the chemical, and water mixture completely or you will have a chalky residue in the grout lines."

So i guess that a 1200PSI porty with inline heater would do the job!

Chris, the inline heaters will not be able to cope with the amount of water flow coming from the machine, you would need a burner to do the job.

I can see a problem using a porty  , not that it cant be done /isnt been done ,

but at the pressures you are talking about to clean these tiles/ flooring , if indeed a porty will reach a true pressure reading at the tool end .

Y ou are will be constantly filling and empty your tanks , What amount of water is going to be used at a pressure of 1200 psi, quite alot i would have though !!! as the nozzles arnt exatly on the small side.

can any body work out ? ;D

What do you mean by a burner?

Chris,
A kerosene / diesel type burner, these will keep up with the pressures used. You do not need to rely on heat as chemical and agitation will do the job, plus dwell time. There are some tiles that you will not want to use high pressure on as it will cause damage. Your best bet would be to go on a good hard floor cleaning course. Acid type cleaners will etch calcium based tiles etc.

Geoff,
Normally you would connect up to the customers tap, auto fill / auto dump so should not be a problem.
