You might  find  to do that you would need a minimum order of the product which could be thousands of units. Also you would need to look at all the legal side of things.

This company does it.

Yes to sel them on,but not for any great profit, its more from a marketing point we all know about the spotters that can be rebranded with your details but what about having more products to build up your brand awareness,if you send a monthly newsletter to your existing customers you could include a brochure of household cleaning items. Its just something iv been thinking about i havnt ironed out all the details iwas was also thinking about some kind of loyalty card and this could maybe tie in with that, again this is just an idea i havnt thought of specifics yet.The way i see it its a about keeping you in the customers head....they even think about cleaning the "toilet" they think of you ;D ;D ;D

so you mean like bleach and toilet duck and general cleaning stuff, as opposed to muti pro and powerburst.
maybe buying cheap but good general cleaners and putting your brand name on it?
have i got it right?
if so, it sounds reasonably good idea in theory.

Thats the idea Derek, like "affordable cleaners" air freshener, floor cleaner etc.Mrs x runs out of "affordable cleaners " brand own washing up liquid, gives you a call to stock up again, maybe its time for her carpets done again.Or mrs x talks to mrs z telling her how that lovely bloke Derek from Affordable Cleaners cleaned her carpets and also supplies her with £ saving cleaning products...you get the idea.

sounds good but ive had 14 years of retail and thats enough for me. i'll leave all that 2 the supermarkets. i was cheaper than them and customers still bought from there. don't let me put you off though, i hate retail with a passion now.

Are there any legal implications - like YOU may be responsible for any damages etc

I think your insurance company would be interested if you start to sell products.
I know when I renew mine the question is there on the application form.

Yes you would need to take out products liability insurance.

If something was wrong with product then the customer can sue you. You in turn sue your supplier. I

Its called the neighbour principle and was bought about by a very famous case in common law where a person bought a bottle of ginger beer from a grocers and there was a snail or slug in it and they were very ill from drinking it. The shop owner argued that the package was not tampered with by him when he bought so why should he be held responsible. The judge ordered that as a supplier the responsibility lay with the shop owner as it was him that the customer had the contract with and he had supplied a product "not fit for the purpose intended" (Consumer protection act 1957 or maybe 58) and under the CPA he had failed in his common law duties. He was of course able to pursue a claim against his supplier (which was successful).

I really would'nt go down that route if I were you especially without the insurance or you may end up having to deal with some very hefty legal fees which you may get back (you might not) but how are you going to fund it in the first place.
