Guy’s who run the scorpion would be the best people to quote on this Boshravie,  the only thing that bothers me about this machine is the 4 vac motors on Uk electrics pulling all that power. Vac motors run differently under load as they do idling  with all the safety trip switches you find on modern consumer units today I feel they will be tripping out  the electric ever five minutes. That was one of the main reasons I went to petrol driven machines because I got tired of resetting the fuses on every job using 4 vac motors. These machines are O.K in the States where their power supply is 110 volt with high current but here in the U.K we have 240 volts and lower current thus the power problem.

Think the initial power suge will trip the switches most times on any modern fuse box,as dave said you might keep going to the mains to flip the trip switch back on :

Think thats why the quad that was brought out didnt take off

So according to what you guys say, you can not buy this machine in England, due to the tripping the fuse?
I am sure the company who make these machines must of thought about this problem before start selling it world wide?

Had one for 3 1/2  years and has only tripped a few switches.If this happens you run it from 2 different circuits in the house using an extension lead if needed. I have replaced the vacs once and still running the original pump. Its been a great machine and never had to walk away from any job due to tripping switches!

Clinton it was back in the early  80’s when I had an Extracta Auto Max  twin vac machine and added a extra two vac motors  with the water pump it need 2 power lines to run it. That was O.K in the day’s when people had a cooker socket in their kitchen you could plug into. But once they started to replace these sockets with just a switch the game was up for me and my first electric driven Truck-mount went into moth balls and it was back to the drawing board.

Sorry Bob I was typing whilst you were, As you say you have to use 2 power lines. I have to be honest this use to p me right off specially when the customer would ask if I wanted a cup of tea. On my answer of yes please Bang! the lecy would trip out

Not so long ago, in the days before the Scorpion, the Cornish Piskey took the Eclipse on board. It was triple vac (all 2 stage) with a monster pump (1000psi?) and was unbelievably heavy. Trevor Ives from Bewdley had one, which I believe is still in bits and gathering dust at the back of his shed.  The Piskey demo'd one to me and it was great. He then put an in-line booster on it and it was unbelievably awesome.  With those 4 vacs, it didn't trip.  An advantage it has over Daves electric T/M is that the vacs can be turned on individually rather than having the massive surge of Dave's single T/M style blower.

Although The Piskey has a superb reputation for customer service, he felt he was being let down something terrible by the Eclipse people. Support, supply and delivery, he told me, was far below what he and his customers expected, so he had to stop supplying the machine.  I suppose you could liken it to the situation with some suppliers of the Speedster.

Along with the issues and hassle of a personal import and the poor exchange rate, I'd be inclined to forget it.

I Bought one and still have it  mine was 3 vac version with an inline heater great extraction, I now have a hydramaster t/m which is brill .Eclipse good machine Downside that it is very heavy.....You can have Mine with all the hoses and bag for £999.00    Happy days  Simon

Well thank you to ken and all the other guys for in-depth explanation, I was just queries about this machine, but after what I have heard from you guys, I think I give it a miss, because.
 1st there is not enough  after service back up as ken mentioned.
 2nd its too heavy, we are based in Brighton south east, we clean lots of flats, and usually they are 3 ,4,or 5 level high, and I don’t fancy my guys logging that kind of heavy machine up the stairs, so I think we stick to our ninja, the machine I have ever had.

If you looking for more vac motors within the machine then the Scorpion fills the bill - 3 x 3 stage plus a 500psi variable induction pump.
Add an external heater and you have a very good machine.

and its light - only 89lbs. - light enough to lug up loads of stairs.

Boshravie, you can get a vac booster for your Ninja, Nigel woodhead has modified his and says it is the best portable set up.

The Eclipse saga was a lesson for all, I was only talking about it the other day to someone who felt badly let down by the whole experience.

It's a bit chicken and egg with imorting as you would not want to buy without a track record but until someone buys no track record exists.

Many thanks for that information, it’s a great help.
 Yes, I am very happy with my ninja, in fact I have had Ninja for the past 6 years, and also I have purchased a vacuum booster about 3 years now, it works great, but as I recall if I am not mistaken, NIGEL WOODHEAD  had his booster modified differently and I am just wondering., where he had his modification done, was it through ASHBYS or some one else,? I saw a photo of it some time ago on here.

It would be great if I could contact him some how.

Are we running the risk of getting a little obsessed with Vacuum, more Vacuum and even more Vacuum ?  Surely an adequate Vacuum used in capable hands will do a respectable  job ?  Mine's only spec'd at 140", but I can get dry carpets in an 'acceptable' time.  And don't forget the complicated relationships between Vacuum (lift), CFM and actual drying.
